Do many Polish people in America hate Americans?

Isn't it futbol, but any who Yeah this economy here in the U.S does suck. And a lot of the kids here take school and knowledge for granted because we do have a lot and most of our parent do everything for us. (minus mine) And we are not suffering or poor like some places...yet that is haha.

The few polish people i new were friendly when they were 25 years old and younger. the older ones are stuck in the cold war. I met an extreme version of the latter when my boyfriend left me for a pole who was 37 with a 5th grade education. SHe has brown front teeth and is very sure she is the most attractive pole in ALL America. I guess if he didn't get her pregnant they wouldn't be together. Or he likes being abused.
Now begins my soul purging rant. From email to packages- with decapitated rats covered in plaster packed in a childrens toys-I stood by him. He told me she was bipolar, crazy and a danger to their daughter that resided with her in Poland. He said the woman and laws in poland would allow him to have his daughter even to visit. She asked for 900 dollars a month then a thousand as she lived in the outskirts of warsaw moving from place to place. He complied and she got nastier.
Why then moment she got here he married her?

I am second generation Polish. I am ashamed of the ignorant comments that come from so many of my Grandfathers countrymen. My two uncles fought for the USA ,one died. Many fought for the freedom of the people in Poland. I could never understand if you believe that Amerians are so fat ,greedy and foolish ,look around you. This country has opened its arms to all of the world. The US is a coutry of immigrants your own forefathers have contributed to make this country what it is. This country has more immigrants from around the world in the last 50 years the the last 100. You yourselves of every race and nationality have contributed to its rise and demise. Get educated,get involved with its people, this is America , not ,Poland,Italy,France Africa, Cuba.or themiddle East. Bring the best of yourselves to make our country better ,we offer the chance of freedom and life r you and your offspring,and we die for that right.for your rights. If you wish to demean my fellow Americans then you are sincerely invited to leave my country I am not Polish ...I am American ,of Polish decent leave your hatred and spite from whence you came.

Hi. Polish people do not hate Americans. I spoke to many of them and they said that they love living in America and would never move back. :)

I'm young and in my 20s, and have lived in Chicagoland my entire life. I've heard the exact same thing from my polish-immigrant parents, but I didn't really understand it until 21.

It's not that Polish people hate Americans, it's just that Americans are stupid. That's probably the best way to put it. It ranges from personal values, to consumerism, to finances, to education, etc. And they are not rich, but they are lazy.

Note though, that not all polish people are 'smart.' There are many who make dumb choices in there lives, but many Poles are known for working hard with what they have to work with, and moving up and ahead in life. For example, my dad quit school after the 7th grade, worked on the family farm, enlisted in the Army for a couple of years, then came to the U.S. at 26. He met my mom here (another Polish immigrant), and married. My parents have a very nice home and multiple properties. There net worth today is well over 4 million USD and my mom hasn't worked in 15 years. They have 4 kids, all of which went on to higher education without student loans, meaning, my uneducated laboring heavy accented immigrant parents had money to fund it. How can American families who live here for generations not be able to do this?

I can go on with so many other examples, but the point is, is that my parents are not unique among Pole immigrants in the States. They won't go back because there is opportunity in America - the same opportunity doesn't exist in Poland. They realize this, and they capitalize on this. Americans seem to take it for granted, and are more interested in other stuff which Poles would find 'retarded' for a lack of a better word.

It's not elitist. Most Poles in the U.S. are from poor backgrounds, but have made it extremely far in a relatively short period of time. It's sad that many Americans can't seem to manage that in a lifetime.

"Hate" toward Americans comes from frustration. There are two obvious reasons of it. First: Educated Poles who come here due to the language problem usually are employed way below their abilities and consequently after the initial period not very happy. They observe their coworkers and observe the level of knowledge far lower than their own and form opinion based on that. The other is a quality and type of US education. Quality is low and schools regardless on level resemble trade schools, consequently society become anti intellectual.
Second: Value system based on money. While very rational in the capitalistic society the expected result is that friendships are eliminated. What Americans called friend is more like business associate, parties are organized for networking. Any type of association has underlying business part in it (sports may be excluded).
Not related to the above, from my very cursory observation Americans are very hard working people, they work harder, longer hours (and years) than any other in the world. As a consequence they accumulate more things than others, but it takes toll on their intellect. Combining it with the level of popular entertainment (this comes to Poland as well) and no wonder that they seem to be intellectually challenged. Consequently Americans are easy target for advertisements and results of their hard work are being wasted.

I hope you will not waste your life. Do not get entangled in an American dream. Hard work, while sometimes a necessity (your parents) is harmful and beyond some point makes little sense. Read a book, throw away TV, go for a walk, do nothing you would be surprised how enriching it is. $4 million of your parents should allow you security and option of not taking part in the rat race.

I cant believe what I am seeing here???? It is all bull sh**. I lived in America all of my life and I still have never any signs of this. We in America are of many ethnic origins. I have never seen any hostilities between POLES and AMERICANS.. My parents came over with no money. But they worked hard next to other nationalities and they all prospered.One time I asked my Father if he would like to go back to Poland. His answer was yes,but just to visit. He said that he would never move back to Poland. He loved America.
My advice to those who feel neglected,is to get a job. This is a land of oppertunity,for those that are not afraid of work.

Immigrants in America have always faced resistance from more conservative groups. It happens today, it happened when most immigrants were from Europe. Surely, there are bad stories. And bad people. America's redeeming quality from prejudice and racism, has always been oppurtunity. People come here because they believe that if they work hard they can make a better life for themselves and their children and that is usually the case. The resistance, while not forgivable, is part of the process. Sometimes immigrants make a better life for themselves withen a single generation, other times it takes longer. But America, for all her faults, has nearly always provided the thing people come here looking for; hope and opportunity.

Whether you were born in America or came as immigrant, if you don't like it, leave. There's no exit tax; you can take all of your worldly goods, money, etc. No one will stop you. Don't let the door hit you in the ass as you leave.

That's one option. Another, which is all but unique in America, is you can change it. If you don't like something vote against it, lobby against it, run for office, or start a letter campaign. America has been changing for 250 years, it can change some more.

So, I'm assuming that you either have these types of friends only or you live in Los Angeles :) Where are all these things that I "accumulate"? I work hard, make money and I don't have superfluities. We all don't live like you describe.

I appreciate your honest opinion as to why the Pl feel "hatred" towards us. If they're unable to look past the typical Plastic American stereotype, then they don't really understand what most Americans are like. I am one of many who doesn't need luxuries.

Most Poles in Poland look down on the Poles who sit in places like Chicago (or London, or Toronto, or wherever) and do nothing but complain about where they ended up. But chances are, if they complain in Chicago they definitely complained back in Poland. Otherwise, they would have never packed up what little they owned and hauled ass to Chicago. think about it.
