That is true, kebabs are huge here. From 25-40, they do.

KFC is the only fast food chain I remember seeing whilst in Poland....don't think I ever saw a McDonalds or BK.

I thought these guys tasted the same everywhere in the world...KFC in Holland is really gross and not popular at all. In Ireland it's ****** too, and here in Dublin are, as far as I know only 3 or 4 KFC's whereas McD tastes reasonable and BK is actually good. However, I'm not a big fan of fast food anyway.

OMG! Conversely!!! KFC - fatty, disgusting food.

I'm not a youngster and I prefer pizza!

In the cities, they go for kebabs and zapiekanki if anything. In the country - they usually can't afford to eat out much so they go for pizza or go home for some proper food.

Yes, zapiekanki - half a long piece of baguette, covered in cheese + other toppings then grilled and covered with ketchup. Also in Krakow you get lots of obwarzanki sold by ladies from little carts dotted around the city.

mmm, I usually make mine with a portion of fried up ground beef and bacon if you like, with 1 or 2 large onions. Quite a bit of pepper and salt with that, and other spices to your liking. Then add mushrooms, mozzarella cheese to the fried up mixture and the cheese itself will melt with everything on the pan. Then you put this mixture on the baguette, and bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes : )

A Polish dish made by special pasta. They have pasta squares, cut up bacon and, of course, cabbage. It's all mixed together. They use ziele angielski and li¶ć laurowej. Bay leaves and English pepperballs. It's very tasty, take my word 4 it

How special is that pasta? Would I be able to buy it in one of those Polski Skleps scattered around the city? And: is there any dish where they don't use cabbage? :)

dear guest, please promise me that you won't get stuck on McDonalds, KFC and Pizza Hut. Poland has a wonderful quisine of its own, so if you only want to eat from the above three, rather stay where you are ... ;) absolutely no offense meant - just please don't be afraid to explore Polish food :)

Actually there has been a Hard Rock Cafe and Burger King at Zlote Terasy in Warsaw for nearly a year now.

Chain stuff like McDonald's tastes the same in most countries because they have tight rules on ingredients.

The Mexican food here however is horrid...nothing like real Mexican OR USA style Tex Mex. Also I have not had a decent 'pub burger' anywhere in Poland. Lousiana, Champions's, Chicago...all have nasty burgers. Chicago's was the worst and I couldn't even finish it.

Poland has some tasty local dishes but nothing I like all the time and it is not the place to go if you want variety and quality in food.

Have you tried Warsaw Tortilla Factory? It's "nouvelle Tex-Mex", but neither I nor anyone I've talked to has ever complained about it.

I heard that it is Polish custom for topping pizza with ketchup as opposed to tomato sauce. Not surprising, since many other countries follow the same guidelines and use varying condiments. The most popular condiment in China, for example, is Thousand Island dressing! (ewww)

I'm personally not a fan of ANY fast food chains developed here in the U.S. and spread (unfortunately) throughout the world. Strictly a purist when it comes to enjoying the local fare of a particular country or region.

Yeah it's the closest I can get to edible but still not the real thing. It has to be the ingredients because the preparation of this kind of food doesn't take much skill.

I have taught English as a volunteer in elementary schools in eastern Poland. At this level, no meal is served at school. Children eat breakfast at home, bring second breakfast in their backpack, and eat obiad in the middle of the afternoon after they return home. Certainly this can be different in other places in Poland or at higher levels of school, but this is what I've observed.

No they just put ketchup on the pizza that already contains tomato sauce I believe.

Of course Poland has McDonalds, KFC, Pizza Hut etc....These are multinational corporations!
