There are a couple of businesses here run by Americans. There are quite a few working at google, credit suisse, and a couple of university professors.

I think Ive met one other American actually living in Wroclaw but he was weird as hell. If anyone is down for a beer or whatever let me know, esp anyone from the northeast because god damn I actually miss the tristate accent.

thanks for the info.
to clear up my situation: i have been attending college here for over a year now, with having met only one american who lectures at my school.
we both made it our mission to find some american friends in wroclaw this semester.

really? i've spent a heck of a lot of time at Google over the past 18 months. only met one there and she went home in September for good. according to the other employees, Google is american-less, at least as of last fall. some brits, irish....but no americans.

well......i guess you would find my accent quite appealing then. where from Jersey?

maybe just fire me a PM.

"American" means from the US in common usage. Only pedantic people make a big deal of of it. I have never ever heard of a Canadian, Brazilian, Mexican or anyone but a yank call themselves "American".

hello Jersey Olive. You sound quite interesting and I would love to get a chance to meet you. I have relocated back to Poland after growing up and working in the City, New York City to be exact. Does your user name mean you are from New Jersey? Love to hear back from you :P

Saturday? We can start at pod papugami at 8, figure the rest out from there? Everyone that wants to go, just PM me and I'll send you my number...or just head to the loud table.

Oh what a strange coincidence! I have never been to the south of the State before myself other than on my way to Philadelphia. What brings you to Poland and where in the country are you now?

So the plan is for the 27th at 8 at pod papugami, open to all (except Fijians, I just don't like them, no reason). Just send me a PM and I'll pass along my number.

Hi everybody,
I am from Ontario. My son is considering to go to dental school in Wroclaw. Currently he is in his third year of biology program in McMaster University. I would really appreciate if you can give me some info about the city. Is it nice? Is it safe? How is the attitude towards Americans/Canadians? Is it difficult to learn Polish if you don't have any Polish background?
Thank you in advance.
PG

hi
Polina:
I would really appreciate if you can give me some info about the city

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wroclaw

Official pages of Wroclaw Municipality:
http://www.wroclaw.pl/ms/english/

Some pics:
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1045715
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=734864

Is it nice? Some says yes, some says no.. I like it here but I'm not an expat.

Is it safe? Probably similary to other cities of that size. Expats use to say that Poland in general is unfriendly toward non-whites, but I can confirm two or three cases of some violence with racist background reported in the press in recent years (though non-white population in Wroclaw is very small).

Attitude toward Americans/Canadians? Between neutral and positive.

Polina:

relative thread is here:
http://www.polishforums.com/general-language-17/polish-was-chosen-hard est-language-world-learn-d-34156/

It seems that quite common notion is that polish is hard for people without slavic language background
