Hi Liz,
A few of us meet up in town, usually Lizard king, kaliska or rolling stone. Were all dragged here by women. Don't know a time as the other lads are out of the country at the moment. We'll meet up if you want a chat and a pint in english.

Hey Liz,

Sorry, not much time left before Christmas. If your still about in the new year give us a shout and we'll arrange something. I'm also Irish, been here about a year and a half. So far so good. Hope you enjoy the winter, I can't stand it.

Best of Luck,

Where to find expats living in Lodz?

Is there any pub or place where they gather and socialize?

Kaliska mainly, for the foreigners passing through also. Proper expats in my experience can drink anywhere: Paparazzi, Bierhalle, Rolling Stone, "Irish Pub" (note the inverted commas!). Unlike other major cities there is not a set location with western TV e.g. Sky. Avoid Dublin pub.

Expats living in Lodz

Hi,
We have bought a dzialka near Lodz and will be living there during the summer so that we are near our son and his Polish wife. Interested in networking with English speaking expats in Lodz area

Are you sure that you can live there legally? I've heard murmurings that all is not well in this respect...

Yes, no problem - it is in the EU and we are there less than 6 months a year

No, not in terms of residency, but rather being allowed to actually live in the dzialka? I've heard (though I don't know the specifics) that many of them may not actually be legal as a place of residence.

Doesn't appear to be a problem; there are about 80 plots in the commune, of which around a dozen others are permanently occupied.

Yes, there's the same problem in Warsaw.

I'm new to this website so i may have lost track!
To return to original question, any middle aged (or plus a bit!) English speakers interested in networking/socialising in Lodz area? We will be there for the summer

I am an American living near Zgierz (not far from Lodz). Are you still looking for English speakers? I just happened onto this site while searching for a substitute teacher for me while I take a short vacation.

Do any of you guys still meet up at the Lizard King/Rolling Stone/etc.? I am an American currently living in Lód¼, and I would love to meet some fellow English speakers.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but just seen this by accident today.

Am emigrating from Dublin to Lodz in the Autumn with my wife (from Lodz herself) a year old (well at that stage!).

Just curious how many Irish/English/American people live around the area? Have to Lodz 10 or 11 times at this stage, indeed got married there but haven't really heard too much English being spoken anywhere.

There's a few of us about. Send us a PM when you're due and we'll send you home to the wife in a disgraceful state on the first night!

Hopefully by then she'll have realized what Irish mean when they say going for 'one'..!

Hi all!

Sorry to break into an old thread, but I just moved to Lodz to work here for 6 months and I'd love to meet new people here to hang out with! Are there any expat meetups I could join?

Ellen

Hey I am new to Lodz too. I am looking also for fellow foreigners. Somebody? It's weird being in a new place where you don't know anybody!
