Hi all,

My boyfriend is British, he's been in Poland for a few months now and i can see he's been missing home, his family, friends, pubs.....and roast :)
Is there any place in Warsaw where he could meet some fellow-expats? Perfectly British, but also Aussies, American, Canadians etc? Is there any place where you all hang out? :)

Let me know your thoughts!

There will be a bunch of us getting together this holiday Friday to play some Dungeons and Dragons. It's amazing how English natives from different cultures express their values (in game) compared to English-speakers from other cultures. Interesting to see in the context of the D&D alignment system. Anyway...

We have been getting together for the last two years about twice a month. Your boyfriend is welcome to join us for some out of this world recreation.

I've regularly heard that Bar Below on Marszalkowska is where many of the ex-pats hang out. You can also hear English voices in Jimmy Bradley's inside the Warsaw Towers at Sienna 39, and there's Cafe 99 inside the Atrium Centre on the corner of Grzybowska and Al. Jana Pawla II.

Bar Below closed a while ago. As far as I know there are expats who go to Bradley's when there's sport on the tv and a bit of an expat scene in the Tortilla Factory, in many ways Bar Below's twin.

Someplace Else at the Sheraton is fairly eclectic too.

Though my favourite bars (which horrify posh Polish friends and most expats) are Mariwa (4.50 a beer) and the incomparable Piotrus.

@The Shadow - can you pls give me the details of your meeting? I think he'd really enjoy that :)

I heard about Bar Below a while ago but as far as i know it's closed now. We'll try other places though :)

Hi there,

I am currently living in Poland and am looking for someone to hang out with. Im half English, half Japanese but brought up in England all my life. I am missing life back home so much so it would be great if I could meet up with someone who speaks British!

I will send you an eMail. We are always welcoming new players (expats only) and the social circle of regulars continues to grow. If you want to escape "Polish Reality" without the obligatory "horror stories" we got the place.

Check a facebook group called "Professionals in Warsaw": they are exactly what you're looking for.

Thanks!

Happy to help. You'll find that the people there are a friendly bunch, whether you want to network or just have beers and shoot the breeze.
