Club Rio is hosting the celebration of the Persian New Year on Saturday, March 20th. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy the festivities.

The celebrations mark the start of spring and the beginning of a new year.

There is going to be

- Hafez fortune telling (Faleh Hafez which will tell you what the New Year will bring you)
- Water pipes ( Hubble- bubble; Sheesha) – call it as you want to- we know you like it :)
- Calligraphy presentation (it’s never too late to learn how to write especially in Persian)
- And of course different kinds of oriental music – played by DJ LADY PERSIA and great Iranian food.

A little background for those interested:

No-Ruz, New Day or New Year as the Persians call it, is a celebration of spring Equinox. It has been celebrated by all the major cultures of ancient Mesopotamia. Sumerians, 3000BC, Babylonians 2000 BC, the ancient kingdom of Elam in Southern Persia 2000BC, Akaddians all have been celebrating it in one form or another. What we have today as No-Ruz with its’ uniquely Persian characteristics has been celebrated for at least 3000 years and is deeply rooted in the traditions of Zoroastrian belief system.
