Massive Attack, that's what I'm talkin about :) The lads from Bristol :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEgX64n3T7g, Paradise Circus from Heligoland :) A bit like Soma from the Siamese Dream album of the Smashing Pumpkins. Massive Attack are a great inspiration for any aspiring trip-hop artists.

The other artists at that festival are pretty classy too. I wouldn't mind going to that :)

other than this... Polish festivals don't seem to have the pulling power. however, the line-up in warsaw last week (metallica etc) was good.

Are you kidding? Maybe its because you listen to different kind of music. I would never go for Metallica for instance. But Laurent Garnier, Massive Attack, Bonobo, Autechre, DMX Krew are things I wish to hear.

Acutally only Open'er and Coke Live are mainstream music festivals. Rest is alternative/electronic music festivals.

The only reason I wouldn't go to a concert like that would be because of the different vibes that are put out. I like to go to a concert with a certain sound (Australian Pink Floyd, AC/DC etc). Massive Attack and Pearl Jam are 2 bands that I have the utmost respect for but they come from 2 different places and not only geographically.

Pearl Jam have many mellow numbers too but they are a great concert band too. They played in Poland a year or 2 ago.

I surprised there aren't more festivals in Poland, like
for the size of the place you'd think that there'd be loads over the summer.

I realise there are prob many many smaller festivals but how come they are not marketed better?

Like if there's an all Polish band alternative/metal/hip hop 2 day-fest in I dunno say, Gliwice, how come you only hear about it if you live in and around Gliwice.

Is it a regional promoter thing? Who are the main concert promoters here anyway and please dont say its Live Nation :(

it doesn't matter who they are. they never get it right.

i think they expect fans to check the likes of LastFM etc.

i doubt many people are aware that Deep Purple play wroclaw later in the year. and tickets have been on sale for six months already

They are :-) just type "Festiwal" in google and you will get "loads" of them. We are just putting here what was interesting for us recently...

I think there is no site "to find them all" ;-) but there are some helpful sites like:
http://www.cjg.pl
http://cjg.gazeta.pl
http://www.festivalinfo.pl/

and if you need something in english then for much smaller extent:
http://www.poland.travel/en

PS. in next weekend this could be interesting:

Open'er gets a big plus for being located close to the sea and beaches of Trójmiasto.

for me its a big minus - cold sea climat at nights is barely bearable. I was freezing there!
besides that the whole Puck Bay has very dirty water. When I was there, there was a swimming ban and lots of dead fish on the beach (not kidding!). The water was full of algas reminding me green soup!
Its better to waste some 1.5 to drive to Władysławowo which is on open sea. Cold water but quite clean and really nice beach :)
