Hi all, another round of meetups in Poznan - the details are as follows.

Thursday night : top floor of Cafe Shark, Stary Rynek 48 at 8pm.

Friday night : Speed meeting of English speakers - think speed dating, but not quite ;) 8pm, Kuchnia Chrisa (underneath the Teatr Nowy), Dabrowskiego 5 (two minutes walk from Most Teatralny). Please be there for 8pm - the 'occasion' starts promptly at 8:30 :) If you intend to come, please let me know in advance - there's no charge, it's just nice to know numbers!

Hi guys.

Im a 37 year old male British guy. I arrived in Poland last Sunday, 23rd May. Scheduled to be here for 2 years (working on the new A2 motorway extention). Currently staying in hotel near Malta lakes. My employer is currently finding me an appartment and have suggested one near the river in Warta, is this area OK?

Im looking to venture into the city centre tonight and tomorrow night for a beer - Ive been advised to head for the viking bar in the old town where I might bump into some ex-pats. If there are any English speaking ex-pats looking to join me then feel free to text or ring me on 0044 7791 168284.

Cheers

Steve

Hi,

The Viking bar is closed now. If you are in town tonight and want to meet some expats head here:

http://www.brogans.pl/

This is an Irish bar in the town centre and tonight there is an English Band who live here in Poznań playing and there will be loads of expats there. I won't be there myself but know alot of my friends are going.

The pub is a bit of a maze and the band + the expats will all be in the back bar where the band is if you have truble finding your way to the back just ask the staff at the front bar, they all speak English!

The gig starts at about 8.

Indeed - there's a place called Estadio where seemingly all the expats are going.

I'll be in there at some point too :)

I was roped into going to a friend's party rather than watching the football :( Still, next time, winding up of the English shall commence!

Hi There.

Are the locations mentioned in this thread still good for meeting up with expats and english speakers. Have been in Poznan now for some and its getting kinda soul destroying spending so much time without a good chat in english.

So far have only met with groups of lads over for a wild weekend and thats not really my scene these days.

Right now, the safest bet is to come to Kuchnia Chrisa, undereath the Teatr Nowy - address Dabrowskiego 5 - 20 metres walk from Most Teatralny. We're meeting there every Thursday from 7pm onwards - though safest is to turn up at about 7:30 to make sure that someone is there ;)

There'll be at least another two, possibly three meetings there in July - this and next Thursday is certain, but I'm not sure about the 28th. After we move from there, we'll move to a new venue - but the same time and day will be kept :)

(normally, it's a right mix of people that turn up - English is the common language, though)

Update :

For the rest of summer (at least until the end of September) - we'll be meeting in "Baza Wilda", ul. Gorna Wilda 89/19 - entrance is on the right side of the building at the side, down the stairs.

Thursdays, 7pm-11pm :) If you come and you're lost - ask for the "Poznan Language Exchange Club/CouchSurfing meeting" :)
