For any of you Pink Floyd fans, Roger Waters will be Playing Lodz at the Atlas Arena for two nights in April 2011. The Wall Tour will be playing all the classics from "The Wall album" According to people that have seen the tour, this is a must see and may be the last time Roger Waters tours - due to his age

I am going to the concert in Barcelona on the 30th March, just booked tickets today. The people I am going with, saw the tour two years ago, according to what they told me, the visuals, set ,vocals and music is top notch. I would have gone to Lodz, but I will not be in PL on the 18/19 April 2011.

According to the info I got on Lodz there are three prices 280-300 PLN standard, 899 PLN- VIP and 1,100 PLN VIP+ extra package.

seanBM, you will want to have a night over in Lodz after watching the gig, its will be pumping the Epinephrine levels.

Excellent, the wall has been the most influential albulm of my life.
I saw it first when I was 9 and every time I have seen it it meant something different to me but even then I was gobsmacked, I had never seen the like.
I am talking myself in to this and you have a point, might be my last chance....

Take the other half, if it was not for the "Wall" coming down, it is highly unlikely you would ever have met each other. Even if you drive the roads from you are very easy and good for PL, its the A4 turnoff to Częstochowa and then a straight road Lodz. I am not a big Pink Floyd fan, I have heard the wall many times. But for me its all about " Roger Waters" what he stands for as a human being and his contribution to music. He is just a class act.

Massive Pink Floyd Floyd fan, hate the destructive force of Roger Waters, and the 'concert will be nothing without David Gilmour and the late Richard Wright. Left with the memories of something that was truly inspirational, not a Waters desperate half-hearted rendition of what was perfection.

Would avoid it like the plague !!!

Waters, makes it very clear in his interviews that he is not trying to recreate the past, only bringing " The Wall " into the future with technology that was not available 30 years ago. As a purist you have the right to your point of view. Things move on and so does technology, as Waters mentions in the interview " The Wall 2011" is theater NOT a concert.

Waters was Pink Floyd, easy as that. Everything post Waters was mind numbingly boring. Gilmour writes pop lyrics...nuff said.

Come on, The Division Bell was a fantastic album - you really can't argue with High Hopes, can you?

division bell was about as hollow as you can get. pure pop man.

edit:lyrically it's like listening to a pop track. the man has a great ear and can put together some music, no argument there. But uh Waters was definitely the soul of the band.

edit2: jesus man, just listen to Time and tell me that's not magic. Division Bell...Momentary replapse... nothing holds a candle...

What a load of bollox!
Syd Barret's music is more fun then Post Syd Pink Floyd!! Post Syd Floyd is way more involved musically though and to call everything post Waters "mind numbingly boring" is infantile! Still Love Syd's music very much but both are amazing!!!

Waters was Pink Floyd

Oh no you don't ; )

Waters lyrics were excellent - I'll give him that. And he wrote some great tunes BUT all the best PF stuff was in collaboration with Gilmour.

Gilmour had a great voice too which Waters didn't and was a great guitarist whereas Waters was simply a competent bass player.

Plus, I don't get a good impression of Waters re the internal band politics. Whilst in many ways Gilmour and Waters were as bad as each other b1tchiness wise, don't forget, that Gilmour was originally hired as a replacement for Barrett - ie as a voclaist and guitarist although Waters did his best to slowly take over vocal duties.

I agree with you there. Nothing better than listening to the ramblings of someone tripping really hard...unless you're sober. Lyrically Syd was fun, but man, Piper is hard to really love.

Agree with you there.

well, a competent bass player that wrote most of the music...

yup, he's a dick, again no disagreement.

meant lyrically.

the later albums sound like a mess...division bell is just a wee bit better than lapse, but not much.

best work was obviously together, but I'm going to stick to my guns and say that pink floyd without waters is uninspired elevator music.

Mostly agree BTW - but Waters solo stuff is mainly sh1tty too (in fact The Final Cut, which was practically a Waters album in all but name, was an awful let down after The Wall) so obviously the two together provide much more than the sum of their parts. Which is more or less what you are saying I guess, so we are kind of in agreement.

(Except for the part that Waters was PF )

; )

Totally agree with you on that. Pink Floyd without Waters was rather allright, but it lost its depth, psychodelic meaning and [the feature I cannot name] and other most important themes being what I the essence of this band.

OK, so who'll give me a two-way spread on the proportion in the audience at these shows of:

a) Salt-and-pepper ponytails
b) Jeans a la Simon Cowell (as in up to here)
c) Girls

?

@Tef, I'm shocked as to your PF fandom. What would Jaz and Geordie have to say about this??

I think they might be more shocked to hear of my partiality for Hot Chocolate, The Carpenters etc etc

I am a massive Pink Floyd fan and despite all the Waters jibba jabba I think this concert is still a must. We are living in a break of certain era, and musicians from the old days are slowly dieing off. Each concert of Clapton, Springsteen and others just makes me think - this could be the last one. Hence I think we should try and catch last moments of these musicians.

I'll be driving to Łódź from Silesia if anyone's interested in a lift.

I feel very fortunate as my roommate has been flying Roger Waters and his band in a chartered 737 throughout the US, they leased it for the entire "The Wall" tour. Needless to say he managed to get some VIP tickets and a month or so ago we went to the St. Louis concert. Afterwards we got to drink a few beers with the band in the VIP lounge. I was never a Pink Floyd fanatic growing up but enjoyed their music. The concert was great but what I liked the most were the computer generated graphics, phenomenal.

I disagree with his politics and found several of his "written messages" that were displayed on the wall way off but it's his right to vent. The vast majority of PF members are socialists and hate America (common, get real, you might use different names such as social-democrats, etc. but you all know it's true) and therefore they'd love his concert, an excellent opportunity to spit on the US as a country. The concert itself was great. The dude is getting old but he sure knows how to party. :)

Good to read your review, I am far from being a socialist and do not in any way shape or form dislike the American people, though I do agree with " Waters " on comments about needless manufactured Wars.

He is right, obviously.. However, when people pay $100 + in the US to hear him play they don't really want a 20 minute lecture from him about Iraq. Richards and Jagger don't do that.. neither does Slow Hand.

Gotta agree with Pete...when the Act gets all preachy....nah,just play,if your message is strong and sincere it should be in your music anyway...
"Smash the Capitilist system....just make sure youve paid me $1oo each to get in...."
