Apparently Wroclaw "welcomes in the New Year". I just got a glimpse on tv. The Rynek was packed with people, who were surrounding a stage!

Yes, you right. When I was in college I spent one time the New Years Eve on Plac Litewski in Lublin. My friend go hit with a bottle. It was messy. Usually there are casualties at this kind of parties. Usually people hit with glass or fire works burns.

But enough with the gloom. Happy New Year everyone.

it happens every year. most cities have something similar. it's all free and part, if not all, will be shown on tv.

there is often a concert in the days before christmas, then new year, and possibly again when Poland has it's big charity thingy in january.

they put a stop to the (personal) fireworks years ago when a girl lost part of her hand or an eye or something.

at midnight the city firework display is over rynek

the stage is almost always in the corner, just in front of 'jas i malgosia'. it faces the area between the back end of the town hall and 'plac solny'.

the public stand in the area where the fountain is situated.
