Twice as many Polish emigrants can return home from Great Britain and Ireland than last year.

Some Polish workers are thinking about leaving the Isles
'We have no slightest doubt that we're seeing more returns than before. Both the experts and the emigrants themselves are talking about it', Joanna Tyrowicz, economist at Warsaw University told Gazeta.

Not sure it will have a massive impact since there are plenty of Lithuanians, Hungarians, Czechs and Slovakians, Im sure a lot that are returning are those that are students or people who have done what they came to do - i.e. save for a better life in Poland...good luck to them, but on the flip side there are Poles that have settled....

Also maybe the person who wrote that article should stand near Chorlton Street bus station any night of the week and see all the cars with Polish registrations, picking up friends and relatives just arrriving... ;-)

True numbers of those actually living and working in the UK isnt really known so i tend to ignore any figures that are published....

that and the fact that most articles are published in order to get a reaction out of some people, or just to fill the space in the newspaper at times.

In my opinion it just reflects some tendencies, no facts.

For me as Polish person (I live in Poland) it is good sign. First time in last 200 years Polish people can choose where they live. Some prefe UK some Poland. What is more people who prefere Poland are not consider crazy. Some prefere Poland because it is easier to set up succesful business here. Some because of family. 7% of people comming back couldn't integrate into British society ... some people find life in Poland more comfortable than in UK ... very good.

I don't think authors of this article try to send mesage for Brtis ;) Honestly we need Poles here in Poland and it is good you can replace them. (I think imigrants have different opinion :P)

as I remeber few years ago doctors were trying to go to some wester country and work in factory ... it seems that it is the past :)

You're right, Polish people are working in professions, Dentists, Doctors, Engineers and so on, those are the kind of people the UK can't aford to lose (no offence to those in the lower end jobs) and judging by the salaries in Poland I dont think a Polish GP or Dentist being paid £45,000 + a year (in the UK) is in any hurry to go back to Poland just yet.

I can only sumise the reason for the mass exodus is the drop in the £ and the risk of coming to a country with a shaky economy!

If they earn 45K + a year they can save a lot of money and open their business here :) ... so in Poland they can be class number one while in UK only middle class ... We need to do everything to see them here :)

Could this be as a result of Daily Mail Hacks suffering from the recession and moving to work for the Warsaw Voice?

Is the Daily Mail just an artificial unintelligence system anyway?

The closest he could do to running a newspaper is doing a paper round.

Experts stress that no precise data on Poles' migration levels are available............... Figures from the UK's Worker Registration Scheme (WRS) show that a mere 38,000 Poles registered in the system in the third quarter 2007, the lowest number by far since May 2004
Could it be that more are settling here and so do not need to register with the WRS ?
