Moving to PL - how much money needed for 6 months?

how much money are needed to live in poland for 6 months ( if i already have where to sleep ) ?

ask this question on www.fgids.nl in the section called ''polen'' there are some experts on warsaw on this site, some of the regulars on that board actually live there for years already. always gave me good advice and they know an awful lot about appartments, housing, and hotels, chalets etc..

they'll understand your english perfectly well so don't worry.

I would say if you don't want to be hungry and go out sometimes, you will need 3,000-4,000 USD for 6 months in Warsaw.

3000-4000 USD is plenty. if you have rich tastes... that would be fine. if you are somewhat frugal.... you should have no probs. I came with CAD$4000 or 11,300zł its been 3 months...i still have 4000zł and have paid over 3200zł in rent. Bought a bed for 1100zł, 600zł for kitchen items, 500zł for a mobile. just so you get an idea.

eh.. it will be hard for me . i don't speak polish and i ll do it without my parents' permission...

hey, I don't want to scare you or talk you down now.. but what if something bad happens?

a. you don't speak polish, b. you're a minor, c. you don't have a work or long-stay permission. - which means you can't rely on yourself if for some reason you lose money or run out of money. -

maybe your boyfriend will be able to arrange something? it's obviously a big adventure for you, and I don't mean to spoil your ideas of going there, let's just say this old geezer is worrying about people he shouldn't be worried about.

anyway, why escape? surely your parents aren't that horrible? if I were you - which I am not! - I would visit your boyfriend just for a few days for the first time.

with your parent's permission, or maybe you have an aunt or uncle who's willing to grant you permission. - just saying there are more roads to rome than you might think -

Knowing a few Italian parents here in Ireland, they will be utterly heartbroken by your actions.......if it was their precious daugther doing what you are going to do..........thoughts?

Hello Kitten Arien's actually quite right. No matter how irritated you are with your parents, no matter how much they make you mad. Disappearing will make them go crazy. They will be terrified something has happened too you, it will cause them alot of heartache. I think also in the long term it will backfire on you, the certainly will not like you Boyfriend, even if he is the loveliest guy in the world.

If you do chose to go anyway, write them a letter to reassure them that you will be okay. Do not just disappear, it will complete F@@K your parents head.

If you are running to be with your man fair enough, but if you are running away from over zealous, over protective parents...well just pause and think about them and yourself. It is always better to face ones fears, that will make you stronger. Once you start to run sometimes its hard to stop.

i m european, i don't need visa ..so

i m not going to leave right now i still want to wait and put things all right. when it ll have to happen i ll speak a lil polish surely and ...no problem with many things : there s my lovely boyfriend there who surely won't leave me alone
i just want to put money together to be independent and never a weigh

he's as young as i am ,no matter with money ,he could work with pc but there won't be the need i ll have my own money and we ll see. i ll try to take 4000 euro at least with me

this will be in the summer , if i ll have to escape to poland i ll do it after having a big quarrel with parents and it will be evident reason to their eyes. now i m just trying to put myself in the condition to be able to go whenever i want after summer has gone ,or winter again ,we ll see if it ll work-
they don't make me just mad, they sometimes make me desperate and i don't want to loose my hopes ( i have them just thank to my boy at the moment )

I dont know about US money as I'm english but when I was there i was spending about 8,000 zloty per month.

let me rephrase that you could get by on 4,000zl easily, the reason i spent that much was because I was paying for nice hotels.

Think about what your doing and listen to others before you go. Ive been there and its no holiday after the first few weeks go by. But i do think Poland is worth a visit for a holiday. There is a lot of beauty within this country, but the corruption becomes more clearer the longer you stay.
But it is cheep as chips for most things.

Krysia, I just thought pujuk R.J could explain what he meant, I would suggest that there isn't all that much corruption in day to day living in the states

People in the US are more honest than in Poland. For example, a guy in Poland sells his car. He will tape it up, fix what needs to make it look good to sell it, will convince you it's the best one etc. Then once it's sold it falls apart.
In the US people usually don't do that. You have a blue book and you know the price of the car. They do not barter as much as in Poland.
This Polish guy wanted to buy a boat on E-bay and could not believe that people here will buy and sell things based on words. When he bought a car he would barter with the seller for over 45 minutes!!! he was nit-picking at any little scratch just to pay less. I was there because I had to translate!!
And the seller just gave in.

I just know in Poland if people see your from overseas the price goes up immediately.
Yeah some people immediately find fault with something they want to buy and try and get the price down.
I think manners demand that there is a asking price and its up to the owner to reduce the price if he wants a sale.

things are going the best they can . my boy is a great person and i m deeply in love. but... i never went to poland.. we met on the net and he ll come here in the summer . we ll be together for some time in rome
