I will be moving to Poland in December with my wife (Polish citizen) within 20min of Krakow, Niepolmice to be exact. I am looking forward for the move, I already have a house being built. I am hoping that I will be able to find employment quick, I would teach if I have too.

I lived close to Niepołomice in Liszki. nice area. You could get a teaching job in Kraków, ask around in schools, you could also be a translator.

How does the cost of building a house in Poland compare to housing in the US? Is it the same or alot less expensive? If it's less, how much less, slightly less or half the cost?

its not the cost of the house which is such a concern... but the price of the land you want to put it on... you can have a 2 story 3 bed, garage house built for about 175k zl

But would you say, comparatively speaking, when you compare salaries/cost of living ratios, the price would not be 50% less. If I can go to Poland and make the salary I make in the US and live in a house like the one I am in now for 1/2 the costs, then sign me up!

Good luck with that. I don't hear many success stories with making more money than in the US. Do you speak PL?

That sounds good for people who are looking to retire and can't afford to stay in the US.

What does land cost there? 175k zl is about $60,000. That's a great price for a house.

how long is a piece of string SW...?

The links i posted earlier will give you an idea of what land costs but it varies so much depending on where, how big, what type of building you can put on it etc...
