"motorway" from German border to Wroclaw is interesting experience if you want to rearrange your internal organs).

is that the patch of road that is a tad bumpy in a large section then goes smooth then without warning another bumpy bit .... as i remember the coach not doing very well on that stretch of road in poland from the german border down towards opole wroclaw way on way to krakow .. all the overhead luggage ended up in the middle of the coach if it didnt hit you on the head first on its way down...

It is getting rebuilt right now so it should be good as new, I have adjustable struts so I can raise it up as I please . I would just hate to part with it. I don't see how buying a car in Germany would do me any good either. Is there anybody I can talk to that can give me some clear direction? And I will not be living in Germany despite all the trash in this thread, I know the language and have family in Poland and will part with my car if I have to but would like to avoid it at all costs. It looks very similar to this one: martinfinlayson.com/images/skyline-3qtr.jpg which I don't think is too flashy.

is it a single or twin turbo?

why is it getting rebuilt? did you blow the motor?

are you selling the car?

It is twin turbo AWD. I spun a rod bearing drag racing it at Cayuga, ran a 14.0 with the engine crapping out halfway down the track. It should be pushing 350hp after the rebuild with a new twin plate clutch. Gonna be starting it the next weekend when the roads are clear so I can properly break the motor in. If you have facebook I can show you the rebuild pics. I am hoping to ship it to Amsterdam and drive it across Europe with the destination being Poland early next year once the snow clears.

I will be installing a bunch of kill switches all over the place inside and softening up the suspension. I'll most likely be going to Krakow to start. What is this SVA?

My Audi A4 has taken an absolute pounding in the two years that i have been here, generally during the day you can avoid the pot holes but at night when you are driving around the out skirst with HGV's coming in the opposite direction you have no choice but to hit them and hit them hard. Had three punctures two new shocks and a rear coil spring just snapped clean.

Saw a ferrari the other day in the Rynek i think he must have to plot his route in and out of town with careful precision.

No problems with car crime what so ever, i think all the criminals left for the UK and Ireland.

Single Vehicle Approval - sva
Generally, your vehicle will need to be approved under the SVA scheme and issued with a Minister's Approval Certificate (MAC) if it is up to 10 years old from the date of manufacture and is not covered by either an EC or national type approval (British or similar national approval from another European Economic Area Member State).

H zoogle I did export cars to Europe Poland and Bulgaria as well true Germany, Bremerhafen and droven after that to the final destination. In containers as well on board of ship/wich it's less expansive/. You have few options to think off: 1. if it's one time deal and final relocation to poland you have a discount with diferent shipers; 2. if you jast will ship one car in container and 3. ship one car on open board. From USA i use port newark auto terminal/autotransport international verm.gmbh. last shipment was in november 2007

Thanks brookbabe, I contacted that company and they told me that since I have a canadian ownership for the vehicle they can't (seemed more like don't want) do it. I have found a helpful company out of toronto that will ship it to Rotterdam for a reasonable price.

Just remember when importing a car to Poland make sure you have had it in your possession for over 6 months or you will pay 42% duty based on the car purchase price.
And you can travel on a valid registration from the US or Canada.

Thanks Kuba, I plan on driving on my canadian plates as long as possible. I've got a "Zaswiadczenie pobytu w Kanadzie" and vehicle ownership history, is that going to be enough when the time comes to register it in Poland?

zoogle,
When stopped by the cops you need a drivers license, registration and proof of insurance.
If you are going to get it registered in Poland you need the Title and Registration then you need to buy insurance.

No you can't register a RHD car in Poland. The only workaround I can think of is to register it in another EU country where you are allowed to register RHD vehicles (such as the UK where we drive on the left anyway, or possibly France where they drive on the right but I believe allow RHDs to be registered). You would then have to return there annually to keep the documents up to date (e.g. technical inspection).

That would be a lot of hassle and expense though as other people have already said....

I've been told that if it's the car I'm bringing with me that I will be allowed to register it but no one else will be able to register it making it unsellable. This car is an absolute blast to drive (350HP, AWD) and if it means driving to France once a year to keep it I'm willing to do that.

No. You can't register it period. I know because I tried to do it myself with my RHD van from England. I have blogged about it here

If you know someone who has registered a RHD vehicle in Poland in the last 3 years then get them to post on here how they did it because under the current rules it's not possible.
