How much may I spend a day in Poland?

Let's assume I live in USA and I make $12 USD an hour ($96 USD a day) and want to go to Poland for 4-week vacations. I pay $1000 for two-way ticket.

Will $50 USD [150 Zlotys] a day for ALL expenditures be enough for me to have fun in Poland? Or I had better stay home and go to Florida? :) How much would I have to spend for a good dinner + place to sleep?

It always depends on the place where you are planning to visit. The cities are more expensive than towns or rural areas. Here, where I live - a small town near Polish-Czech border - good dinner is about 20-30 zlotys ($7-10), a pint of beer about $1.5, lodging begins from $35 a day. Personally speaking if I were you I would choose Czech Republic - I am totally fascinated with their country, their hospitality, cuisine and culture. By the way the prices there are comperatively lower than ours.
Hope it could help you a little.

Hi Tom,

Well, from what you write I gather $50 a day would be just perfectsmile.$35 for lodging + $10 for dinner and $5 for a museum ticket. I guess I won't live like a king though smile. Yes, I would like to go to Czech too (I like beer and "knedliszki"). I guess the cheapest for me would be to take a bus or a train to get from Poland to Czech - or to travel around Poland. The only problem is that I don't know Polish well so it might be difficult to get directions etc...

WTF ? Is the Czech-advertising forum ? smile Go findyourself a website about the Czech Republic where you can advertize your country 24/7.

...

$50 per day in lager citirs is OK whiele somewhere in the province it is more than enough.

i just got back from poland. i had $1,500 USD to spend for 2 weeks i spent a total of $700 including all my travling i visited 6 citys. i also took a train to Bratislava ($120) with my paied vacation i had i made more money than i could spend in a day. and i came back home with $600 more than i came in with but don't make much more than you do ($16 hr) i think $50 a day would be fine however i didn't rent a car and was in a hotel for only 2 nights. the hotel rates will differ depending on what city and how close thay are to the center of the city. but i was in the marriot in warsaw that costed $200 a night and a hostel in Krakow for $45 a night. i hear the car rentals are about $20 a day but i'm not sure on that but you don't need it. the public transportation is really good in poland. go to poland it will be worth it. and the food is better and Krakow is a great city.

Thank you for your answers. It seems it's not that extremely expensive, even for an American ;). I wish I was British though and make money in pounds.... :)

I would say - it matters how much you can buy for your money in Poland or in other country. It's getting harder and harder to buy anything for one dollar in the US :(.

I also live in the US and I was going to fly to Europe on vacation this year... but I won't. I just figured it's too darn expensive. I decided to go to Washington and Oregon state in the summer - plane tickets are still affordable here and there's plenty to see. I'll wait until the US economy is in a better shape and the US dollar means something more in the world than it currently does.

If that happens, that's another story though...

When We are going to pub to have fun we need at least 50zł
, so you need minimun a 18USD to go to pub. This is a EQUIVALENT of 12 beers.

I think 96 USD is exactly 96 USD (+- 1 USD).

In Polish Zlotych 96 USD is about 270 Zlotych.

as i sat in the pub last night, contentedly sipping on my ice cold zywiec, i calculated that i could drink 11 of them for the same prices as 4 back in blighty... so i ordered another...

Don't go to FL or stay in the US. You'll hae much more fun in PL. All of the borders are easy to access too. Unfortunately, the USD is losing value and you wont be getting 150zl for $50usd....maybe 140zl but, this will still be ok. You might not drink as much either due to the higher alc content . It's cheap to eat and will be a very memorable experience. I travel there 3-4 times a year so you can email me if you have any questions.

It depends what you mean by average life, size of the family, region etc. but generally I would say 1000-1500.
