Could someone who speaks Polish please tell me if the rents below are for a week or a month. They seem a lot for Poland for a week but very cheap for a month!

As in any line of business/service...the smaller the package/period the higher the cost....etc.....plus the long term renter would be signing a lease of sorts/large deposit being paid over, to guarantee rent being paid...etc

monthly rents will be starting at a base of about 750zł. add in another 250-400zł for strata/council fees (gas, water, electricity, garbage removal, maintenance) (water is on a meter)

you will also be paying an additional month rent for a deposit.

also.....if renting from a stranger, make sure they provide you with a permit to rent to suite you are interested in.

also beware of how the owner might try to add some extra fees for "extra water/gas".

i was told when i negotiated my lease (with my polish friend) that all utilities are included, no extra fees.

NOw that i am leaving, he said i used an extra 18cubic meters of water but i didnt read the meters when i moved in so i had no reference point. He wanted another 100zł from me for it.

He then said i need to pay another 90zł for electricity.

He had his daughter come with him, to translate and i said to her, that the 380zł for strata was to include everything and no extra fees. and i pointed that out in the contract, i know which clause it was. Good thing i had my PL friend with me when signing.

so beware.

May I suggest the website onet.pl they have a section under (obviously) neuromoschi (s'excuse spellin). It is really decent an you will be able to browse to your hearts content. Avoid any English language property sites as they will mess around with the prices (b'stards). Meanwhile property rent varies depending on location and quality.

I'm sure for between 800 and 1000zl a month a decent 30m flat in most of the major cities would be attainable.

Probably per month, rent or salary per week are rather a British thing.

On a different topic a polish school teacher mentioned his low wages of some 800zl per month, now one hears on this thread that rent costs 800zl plus per month plus gas/electricity/water, little wonder the majority of polish people are having it tough.
Could I ask somebody living in Poland, how do polish people survive on current earnings. They must see there life long dream of owning a house go out the door when they see escalating house prices.
I have done a search for accommodation in the mountain area and starting price is 3000zl plus per month.(furnished) plus gas/water etc.
