If I needed a flat in Edinburgh for 2 weeks how would I go about this? Does anyone have any recommendations? Is a Hostel my best bet?

Thanks

Thanks for the quick response guys :)

It's not for me and i'm not sure how comfortable I'd be with having my GF staying in a Hostel. I have no knowlege of them...are they safe for young women? she needs just 2 weeks and not many people are willing to rent for that time period and she hasn't a lot of money.

Szarlotka..Thank you I'll take a look at this.

I've edited this cos it didn't even make sense.

When is it and what sort of money is reasonable for you or GF to pay for rent?

staying in a Hostel

I stayed in a hostel in Edinburgh once. It had a late night bar, which was kind of good.
The next morning it reeked of stale cigarettes and spilt drinks.
There's one place I welcome the smoking ban.
I don't remember much of the experience, but it wasn't too expensive, I vaguely recall.
Great place to visit though.

Sometime in Nov. She's looking for sth not more than £ 75-100 per week. Would this be possible?

That's going to be tough to find Fisz. Even guest houses (small hotels doing bed and breakfast) will cost a mimimum of £25 a day in the centre of Edinburgh. And forget the short term apartments - they will be more than that. Hostel seems like the best bet.

No. Even £25 a night would be hard to find. Does it have to be Edinburgh ? Nearby towns are a little cheaper.

I think only if she was going to be in a hostel room with several strangers...

Hmm, more than likely not I'm afraid. szkotja has a point, if she could stay out of town it might be cheaper (not by a great deal though, I think) although if driving is an option it's worth looking at. Or if travelling by bus is not a problem. I'll keep checking some websites though.

Yeah I've only seen cheap rooms such as 9.50GBP/night for a 6-bed female 'dorm.'

Private hostel rooms I saw were 22.50 GBP/night.

My friend was staying private in a hostel in Glasgow one night and she and the girl she was there with were quite scared (but that could just be them..) in it, and they weren't sharing with strangers. Maybe i depends what kind of girl she is [is she easily frightened, because it may just be my friend is].

Thank you. I am more concerned with her safety than anything else so, I'd like to avoid Hostels.

I think that's the best choice, I know I wouldn't feel comfortable in one, especially not shared with strangers. :)

Yeah I think this is OK. :)

In a good location for getting into the centre of town via bus etc

Let me know how you get on with getting it booked etc. :)

Just checked the website, hopefully they might consider 2 weeks in November as "long stay" ;)

I don't know if Fisz looked there but I did, not much, some advertising as Per Week and looked good but turned out that it was Per Night. Still worth looking as more get added. :)

Not sure I recommend advertising for this kind of thing...

Yeah there's one or two there might be worth looking at. Watch what "short term" means. They may be assuming 3 or 6 months, something like that.

Thanks in advance.
