My name is Bart and I work for the BBC. We are about to start filming a new series about the lives and stories of immigrants who come to England to live and work or seek refuge. It will be an observational documentary series and through people's journeys and stories we hope to challenge peoples perception on the immigration debate.

If you are thinking of coming to England to live and work or if you have recently moved to England and would be interested in talking to me further about being involved in our documentary then get in touch. We are looking for interesting characters with interesting stories who would be happy to have a small television crew filming aspects of their lives.

I look forward to hearing from you.

How about an American immigrating to poland? All right not nearly as common. But your premis sounds very interesting. Good luck I look forward to seeing it, please announce when the air date(s) are here if you remember.

If anyone would like further info about this programme then please get in touch. If you know anyone who is going to the UK to work or is already here and starting work or has been working for a little while then ask them to get in touch if they would be interested in finding out more.

Thanks.

Will there be any Cookery or Home Improvement involved? And when is Housecall coming back? Anxious licence fee payers demand answers.

Hi Hueg,

No there wont be any cookery or Home Improvement involved I'm afraid, it is purely an observational documentary series.

Also I'm afraid I have no idea when or if Housecall is coming back.

Sorry for lack of info.

Typical request. Brit ex pat seeks revenge for boring overseas post by inflicting said programme on countrymen enjoying life in the old country.

What about an Englishman living in Poland? Try to look outside the box here. An Englishman madly in love with his Polish girlfriend moves to Poland, gets a job , finishes with girl then uncovers a plot by one of his fellow teachers to take over the world. It is the Englishman alone in a foreign country trying to save the world(and also having problem making the girl from telepizza understand my address, stupid girl) Sweet Jesus I have just thought up an idea for a film.
Yes ok Bart I will accept the BBC's funding for this project but only as a personal favour to you. You seem like a good guy, also you have the name of my favourite charachter in the Simpsons. With your cash and my plot we will rule the world.

I hope that His Serene Calmness Nick Knowles will be cast in the lead. Without our Nick reaching out to you through the screen I'd have my doubts but, for that reason I'll remain optimisitic. Starting to sound like a dragon here.

Oh and don't forget the MDF clause.

Thanks for the reply earlier TT, appreciated.

I was thinking Keira Knightley would play the part of my girlfriend and I would have to play the part of me. To provide true realism of course, I think that some bedtime scenes would have to be included......

There is a Polish man I know, who would be a good candidate, but who has been in Leeds just over a year, yet who is private, proud, and shy.

Perhaps a "private and shy" person wouldn't be overly happy to be stalked by a film crew day and night.

I know you live in Leeds, as do I. My Polish friend, has lived in Leeds for just over a year. Are you sure you`re working for the BEEB?

Hi Purple,

Yes I do work for the BBC. And I would be interested to know more as to why you think your friend in Leeds would be a good candidate. We are actually going to be in Leeds on Wednesday.

Giles may have a point though as if he is shy and private he may not want to be filmed going about his life.

Post back or e-mail though and thank you for responding to my thread.

My friend in Leeds would be a good candidate, as he does not fit the British view of `the Polish immigrant`. I think the shyness is more of a Polish cultural thing, but is intelligent and witty. Would rather e-mail if you could let me know.

When I mentioned shyness, or even being proud or private, I think it is more a case of my friend, maybe natural if you are new to this country, of being cautious, with also a certain formality. I have found this to especially extend to their work/personal life, and to making friends.
Have only just registered on this Forum, but If you could post back or e-mail, `cos don`t really want to put info here that I`ve not yet had the right concept to mention, this topic yet, to the friend in question.

Bart, I suppose you have your Polish candidates for your documentary. Someone on this thread has pretended to be you, not that I have fallen for it.
Anyway, let me know.

...I didn't want to pretend i'm some1 else but to be honest with you my best english friend told me once: "...you are far too shy, and far too proud"

Pozdrav All.

Hi Bart,
Would like to discuss this further by email, but because I`ve just registered, I can only get access to your e-mail address after I`ve posted 4 `useful messages`?

Hi Bart..

My name is Maryska and I only wish I could work for the BBC one day (optimism or wishful thinking ;) I would be most interested in finding out more details regarding your documentary series. To put in a nutshell, having finished university I went to India where I lived for the past six months and it was only two weeks ago when I made a decision to come to England and (at least in the beginning) get involved in job market research. If you feel like accompanying a Polish girl in her ‘daily struggle’ in the foreign land, she would be more than happy to get in touch with you..

I hope you will be filming positive things this time because last time I saw something on English TV about Poland and Polish people wasn't very nice. It pictured all the bad images and yet so many polish people are decent and work hard for what they have.
