I would just like to know if Polish people think that this would be a good idea for Poland to follow. It does not affect members of the EU also I wonder what affect this will have on the rest of members of the EU, these people will want to go somewhere...

sieg heil

seems rather a big step back from the idea of "union." canada has one of these also and it seems to work for them just fine. however, i am not sure if it is a good idea in a supposedly open EU. i think the spot fines for hiring illegals is a great idea which would really solve the illegal immigration issue in the USA but i doubt it will ever be implemented in that way.

if this exact point system was implemented by all of EU members then that may work but i think this will lead to some diplomatic issues. we'll see.

Dubious link the PLK, as it's akin to the ancient laws we have in the UK, where I can, as an Englishman, kill a Scotsman in the city of York, after midnight, with a longbow....
..it seems to be one of those laws that are a hangover from the past.

BUT to get back to the main point. Yeah, I have no real disagreement with a points based system, as used in Australia. It keeps out undesirables and lets in those who would benefit this country. As those from EU states wouldn't be affected by that ruling as they have the right to travel and reside, then fair enough.

I've always said that Great Britain is "great" because we take the best...and leave what we don't want. Seems to follow that logic.

In Canada the points based system has its problems but overall it seems to be working okay. I think it would be a good idea for the EU to do this. A nation can only be so open.

no, it doesn't. People who score high and are admited to Canada has to prove that they know the language, have some relatives and are educated. The reason for that is that they can enter work force and if they cannot for one reason or another there is a family memeber they can lean on, not teh Canadian government. So, teh point system is good for the country but not neccessary good for the immigrant.

I've loved this plan ever since they first mentioned it. No more Muslims! No more Africans. No more non-eu migrants apart from the highly skilled! Immigration will be reduced VASTLY.

Got no idea who is cleaning the hospitals but they're not doing a very good job.

that's not true.. you don't have to have family to qualify for canadian immigration/work but it surely helps. the ca$h requirement is there for that. it also vastly helps to already have a job lined up.

I already responded to this you 'Pushtt.' Nurses and doctors are HIGHLY SKILLED workers.

I don't need to sit any test. I'm British, I was born here. I automatically qualify as a British citizen.

There are many immigrants who would pass a "Britishness" test with a higher score than some Brits :/

Myself, three other Scottish people and a Latvian woman [in her own language] were singing this at work a few weeks ago. Was quite a surreal thing, I stopped when I saw the amount of attention we'd gathered..

Many wouldn't. Some would behave the same. His opinion is similar to what I hear at work a lot. Thing is, many speak like him [in a two-faced manner of course] and do nor say nothing to those they speak of. Currently, they can simply be ignored.

A forum like this can make a good platform for those who like to express their opinions [but not too loudly...:) ]

I don't ask anyone to have pride in me. Have pride in the country. Look after the country.

My uncle's wife who is Thai cannot gain British citizenship as she cannot pass the Britishness test.

Brilliant song, especially when sung in a crowd!

I don't talk to them because I quite frankly don't like them. It's not two-faced. It's a refusal to associate with muslims and Africans. It's not the colour of the skin.. it's much more than that.

You know this before ever having entered conversation with any Muslims or people from Africa? Everyone is different...

I know alot of Anglo-Africans and muslims and I know exactly what they're like. There is a huge crime rate here with 'Anglo-Africans' and even the government has called upon the 'Anglo-African' community to sort themselves out (http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2007/apr/12/ukcrime.race). The majority have a lack of respect. They have the NWA. As for muslims their culture is incompatible with out culture and if they don't get their way you'll know about it. They feel superior to non-muslims. They don't integrate, they don't even care for the country! I'm against multi-culturalism.

. My experience is completely different from yours of Muslims and Africans. I guess there would be no point in giving examples, you would not believe me [or simply point out you said 'mostly' -yet you are against all...] I could even say maybe one day you will have a nice encounter with someone who is Muslim or African, but it's not quite possible when you are predetermined against to the point of not speaking to them. I will leave you to your opinions.

I've met 2 decent muslims and about 3 decent Anglo Africans and that is NOT enough. That in no way helps the country. Isolated communities? Isolated ethnic groups? Increase in crime? Poltical correctness as to not offend them? Good riddance!

The points system would be a good idea for UK also for many other countries. I can't see how anyone thinks it would stop Asians/Africans etc entering the country.

Ha ha are there anymore words you would like to put in my mouth? I know a fair bit about Islam and I know alot about the mentality of muslims. As for the 'Anglo-Africans' just look at the friggin crime statistics! When striking a conversation with them they have this "don't mess with me" attitude. I'll give you an example of the way the majority of Anglo Africans are. New Orleans. Read it up.

I'm far from miserable and I don't/won't live in fear. Utter bull....As for St. George, was he black? Was he muslim?

It won't stop them but it will enable only the decent, intelligent migrants to come to work here rather than the dirt. Immigration will reduce by it's thousands. Even Pakistan is worried by this.
