New here from Southern California... Rozmus

My father, who was of Polish and Mexican descent, recently passed away. While being very familiar with our Mexican lineage, my brother, sister, and I have became interested in our father's Polish heritage and don't know where to start. All we know is that our great grandfather and great aunt were brought to the USA by their mother in the 1920's from what is listed as Galacia on the Ellis Island Manifest.

That's all we know... Our Last name is Rozmus

Any insight on how to take on this task is appreciated.

Do you know where they settled at when they came from Poland? Did they go directly to California?

They lived in Amsterdam, New York. My great grandfather died young and had 2 boys. When my great grandmother died, her sons lived with relatives in my great grandfather's house. Both moved to California when they became of age and were pretty much disowned for leaving the family. His brother died when I was 6 or 7, and My grandfather died when I was in my early teens.

We have a little knowledge on the family tree after the family established themselves in Amsterdam, but have no knowledge of family history in Poland.
