Bit paranoid to think Admin wants to throw anyone out by changing the format. He'd probably just suspend that person rather than go to the effort of changing the entire format.

Not paranoid. He wants to limit the time some people spend on forum by making it painful to read.
To create balance,do you understand? And mix more the opinions. To create a constantly interrupted fairly homogenous soup text.

In other words he wants to take the fun out of it and have posts based on facts. Yes or No ?

I'm fairly certain that Admin will drop the Off Topic section at some point.

-Admin, remember the reason you gave in the first place for this change? Did you notice contradicting it by placing the name on the left anyway? Is there new justification?

-Is the feedback section just for show?

-Do you care if some posters disappear because they dislike this change so much?

-Do our opinions matter on this at all?

I'm shocked it still exists even now. Avatar removal?

So you found 2 sites, still the majority of message boards have normal layout.
As far as I am concerned you failed to justify the switch.

Read PinkJewel comment #304; I couldn't justify it better. The two sites actually create new ideas and trends.

Admin, any thoughts about the tasteful shade of blue I suggested?

Some things can only be tested live; the first 100 comments are the reaction to a test mode. It's hard to call contradicting putting a username or aligning the date to the left..

It depends how you look at it. Not all users disagree with the change.

_Sofi_ wrote:

Yes, they are being read and considered.

In shock when it exists, in shock when removed. Not sure how to please..

I'd say out of the few people remaining in this thread, most people are trying to be positive. I'd say out of the members of PF, most of them have either accepted it or it doesn't affect their posting on PF because if you look at the currently active threads, there's a whole load of posting going on here.

dosen't mean they wanted the change in the first place and it certainly dosen't mean that admin were right to change its just as usual people don't stand up for what they want and just give up and accept defeat :). |The world is getting worse because people won't stand up for what they believe in, if they do its usually the tree huggers and what good is that to anybody :)

That reply button keeps coming and going. It's not a complaint.

I'm curious to know. Does anyone actually use it ?

Check Google groups or PHPBB - are they "insane" to have such layout too?

Google Groups do not have the avatars on the right hand side annoying the eye. Can't say I am a fan of the PHP board style either, but it does seem marginally less distracting than the current PF layout does. Maybe the color doesn't change as often as here? White on White vs. Different shades of gray?

The poster's name highlighted in blue doesn't work for me. I was more a fan of the Bold Font Name in blue. Sorry Os.

Do have to say the layout of PF is better than the Google Groups though.

The use of a separated area for 'soandso wrote:' makes a lot of sense. You can easily tell the post from the quote. Each post occupying it's own area makes it easy to discern one post from the next.

You may try to turn the avatars off in your profile (I know they can be annoying for the eye). Even though I'm now waiting for comments that it's the moderators fault that one of the avatars may have too bright colors or be too big.. ;).

On the left side, they were natural. They are only annoying to my eye when placed on the right.

I like the idea of avatars, as there is a quick visual to let you know who the poster is (provided they don't change them every day or so...) prior to reading the post. For those that don't use an avatar, I do take the time to read the name of the poster.

Just my 2 groszy worth.

Can you explain why they are annoying on the right hand side? I'm not arguing here, just looking for an opinion. Is it annoying on the right because you are used to it being on the left?

I only ask because I find it just as easy on the eye on the right as it ever was on the left.

Just that seeing a cartoon picture of the lovely and talented PinkJewel in my peripheral (sp?) vision drags my eye away from the post. On the right hand side, my eye gravitated to the next line of the post, not all the way back to the avatar for some reason.

Edit: as a side note, I have disabled the avatars. But I now have to read each poster's name in the recently changed Bold Blue Font.

Pink Jewel, please google "Forums" and check 10 first forums you can see; you won't find one set-up backwards like this one.
It is quite funny in a way because of the stereotype about Polish People always doing things backwards, so the Polish Forums is setup backwards as well, lol!

For me they may distract from the text, on the left too. However with the current layout the reader can just focus on the content of the message and will always encounter the same message view and layout (ie. without any avatars).

With the old layout some messages had avatars, some not, and that could be distracting.

your attempts to be different, inovative and new age are laughable, the forum was 'fine' as it was infact more than 'fine'. You just seem to make strange decisions and come up with even stranger reasoning behind it
