Poland's President-Elect Duda leads in public trust - CBOS poll

The first confidence poll since the presidential election by pollster CBOS has shown that 57% of respondents place their trust in president-elect Andrzej Duda, with Komorowski and Kukiz tying for second place with 52%. If that in any way reflects support for their political formations, it might suggest that Polish society is split not down the middle (PO v PiS) as to date but into three separate segments.

What does that speak about the society, if such high a % trust a loony and populist?

populist

At least he's not a crook and scam artist like the Platformer gang!

It suggests he's still in his honeymoon period and hasn't shown his true colours yet.

When he does the ratings will shoot up.

Duda is a great leader. For sure he will push Poland through bright and sovereig times. He is the best choice for the polish people and for the country in such dangerous time like now.

Unlikely - if he's anything like the last president from that party.

last president

The late President Kaczyński briliantly symbolised the dignity of the IV Rzezcpospolita, but the Smolensk tragedy sadly cut short his term in office. Duda will have to start all over again from scratch to help clean up the mess and defective legislation left by the Platformers.

No he didn't. Your '4th republic' never happened, the guy was devoid of any dignity whatsoever, his (and the Dud's) party were dumped from office and he was set to lose the election. The dud Duda is much the same and the first mess is doubtless waiting to happen. So far, he's been avoiding opening his mouth so he doesn't put his foot in it - we can expect him to do just that pretty quickly.

4th republic' never happened

Two years was hardly enough to clear away the mess left by the ex-commies, especially since the Platformer hate industry was operating in top gear. 8 years of Platfus misrule will now require considerable effort to rectify. One of the first things will be to correct the text-tube baby law, as one PiS rep ntoed today in a TV political talk show. PiS did manage to establish the CBA, de-communise school curricula and lay the foundations for the 4th RP. The Duda-Szydło tandem will carry on the torch and finally help create a sovereign, EU-realistic, pro-Catholic, pro-family and Pole-friendly Poland.

We can only hope Duda sobers up and does not bring on Poles the distrust, embarrassment, and alienation on the international scene like his PiS predecessor did... The problem is that PiS are a pitiful, backward lot and a threat to the democratic process, and it seems they would only ever be satisfied if they managed to turn Poland into a European open-air museum where the Cathlolic Church would be made state religion and allowed as the only moral voice in any public debate...

That does not mean of course that PO were that great... but at least they never threatened democracy or screamed "Bloody murder!" whenever they lost in the elections...

@Totti: do you mean that Duda has a drinking problem? First time I read that.

Talking about drinking, I am almost sure that Kukiz is an alcoholic (+ drug addict).

A lot of politicians certainly are, all around the world and in Poland in every party including PiS. I hadn't heard it about the Dud though.

hey would only ever be satisfied if they managed to turn Poland into a European open-air museum where the Cathlolic Church would be made state religion and allowed as the only moral voice in any public debate...

That's unfortunately true and a lot of them indeed believe that the RCC is the only moral voice.

There's still a lot to come out about the Dud, I expect.

And for some the only moral voice is that of degenerates and sickies. To each his own!

Hey guys... I've started a blog and actually my first post was about Duda being elected... If it is alright, would like to ask for your sincere opinion... You can check in my website poland [spam] services.

I am also a foreigner living here for almost 7 years... And before coming to PL I was really keen on reading all your tips here... That is why every now and then Im coming back to my roots here...really sorry for the publicity, but I feel it is all connected to the subject of this thread.

Best regards!

Interesting blog, but 7 years and you think PiS is modern?

Good to report Lech Wałęsa's comments though, and good to mention the possible effects on the markets.

The latest TNS Polska survesy shows that only 3 groupings will make it into the Sejm: PiS and United Right - 38%, PO 27%, Kukiz 13%.

The latest TNS Polska survey

Outside the Sejm would be United Left (SLD, Palikot, Greens) - 3%, KORWIN - 3%, PSL - 2% and ModernPL - 2%. Whites & Reds and National Mvt have attracted only marginal support.

The Kukiz vote is falling away, as entirely expected. The other parties haven't even started to campaign yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if Kukiz ends up being completely marginalised by the unspoken agreement of all the other parties.

That and the satirists will ridicule him into oblivion - have you seen his 'policies'? Plus he'll certainly disgrace himself in some way over the coming months. Duda likewise. Right now, he's keeping his mouth shut to avoid putting his foot into it as all PiSuarzy invariably do.

Yep, the Kukiz policies are like an even more extreme version of Duda's "promises". There seems to be nothing there but "WE WILL GIVE EVERYONE EVERYTHING FOR NOTHING" - and it looks like the voters are already seeing through it. He's also making the hugely fatal mistake of trying to appeal to the right of PiS - so obviously their attack dogs already drew him into open confrontation.

I'd keep an eye on NowoczesnaPL though - there's a hell of a lot of grass roots stuff happening right now.

All Poland needs is another pro-cut-throat capitalist group like the Balcerman clique that sold off most of Poland's assets to foreign capital for a song.

Fortunately, Polish people prefer money in their pocket, so we have nothing to fear from socialists like Duda.

It says a lot that in the last 25 years, Poland only really had a socialist government between 1989-1991 and 2005-2007.

socialists like Duda.

Socialists try to destroy religion and replace the family with the Komsomol or some such and do not tolerate dissent. They use pressure, threats, blackmail and endanger people's livelihood if anyone dares disagree. Oh, it just so happens that description fits the LGBT agenda and PF's "progressives" blindly following its dictates.

Spot on, which is one reason that Duda is staying quiet and desperately trying to appeal to his party's raging core voters...

a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulatedby the community as a whole.

Now, let's look at Duda's campaign promises...

The presidential candidate Andrzej Duda has specifically declared the implementation of the following policies: lowering the retirement age and determining the retirement benefit package by the length of employment; providing more support for parents; reinstating the responsibility for national health and education to the state; eradicating poverty and social exclusion by increasing the minimum income threshold levels for benefit claims and introducing a fair tax system; raising the minimum wage to a 50% of the national average wage; revoking those regulations in the labor code that work against workers, such as the current working time and accounting period; eliminating the [...]

On the basis of those 'promises' (oh, so easily broken...) the Dud is certainly more socialist than all but one of the leadership candidates in the UK Labour Party.
delphiandomine 88 | 18,163

It really is a remarkable amount of socialism by any standard. It certainly wouldn't be out of place in the Labour Party's 1983 campaign, all that's missing is some remarkable amount of anti-EU rhetoric and it would be more or less identical.

Duda will soon come unstuck when he realises that he can't enact a single one of those "promises" and instead has to resort to crude anti-Russian, anti-Germany propaganda to divert the attention of the moustaches away from his economic failures.
OP Polonius3 994 | 12,367

amount of socialism

You're talking about textbook definitions of socialism or the socialism of Western wannabe hobbyists. I've lived through it and closely observed the actual practice -- wire-tapping, jamming Radio Free Europe, dissenters attacked in back alleys by "nieznani sprawcy", censorship, travel restrictions, forced PZPR membership above the very basic labour level, police, soldiers and other functionaries banned from attending mass or having their kids make their First Holy Communion, militiamen travelling to remote parishes and getting married late at night at the vicarage, typewriters available for $$$ only at Pewex and a sample of the type was taken and kept on file at militia HQ, etc., etc. ad nauseam.

THAT IS THE REAL SOCIALISM! And it sounds like more something the LGBT gang would do rather than Duda!
