Polish flag League rankings: Poland has overtaken many western European countries in education results
The eyes of the football world have turned to Poland, as it plays co-host to Euro 2012.

But the country has been winning international approval for a different kind of league table success - as Poland has become one of the rising stars in education.

Among eastern European, former-Communist countries, Poland has been the biggest education success story - following modernising reforms launched at the end of the 1990s.

It has also been more successful than most countries at one of the holy grails for education reform, equality of opportunity.

Poland's schools are succeeding, more than many others, in narrowing the gap between the weak and the strong, the gifted and the challenged.

No other European country has climbed the international education tables quite so consistently as this nation, which emerged so recently from decades of totalitarian rule and economic hardship.

I've often wondered what he's been getting up to lately.

Or perhaps it could be that the Jewish-Communist-Satanist Pole-hating scum who run the BBC thought that they could laugh even more at Poles by publishing an article about them which is entirely made up and then show that it is made up by attributing the article to the world's greatest ever comedian? That way they could laugh at Poles along with all their friends!

I wonder whether BBC will emit correction to the information about non existed monkey chants ?!

Who's hating here? I'm just laughing at the fact that the BBC of all people should put out a story about Poland which is so positive. Oh, and that it's written by Bill Hicks.

Now if Poland could get round to paying the people who work in its education system a living wage (my girlfriend has two magister degrees and takes home less than her rent is), things could get even better.

It's nothing to be proud but rather to be shameful. The gifted are wasted and can't really spread their wings fully at Polish schools. The troubled are lowering the levels so the gifted ones are expected to do less and less thus they don't fully develope. I dream about Polish schools when seeing a mathematically gifted child giving him special care to develope his mathematical abilities, not bore at lessons when his mates are troubled at grasping the most simple things. I dream about Polish schools having serious art and music lessons so that talented children could learn something there, not just draw an odd picture which they are given 5 for whatever it is, or in case of music lessons - a lessons with REAL music instruments (in fact mostly it's just singing songs).
