I must admit it caused a lot of amusement on my part.

Are you finding his coarse voice arousing ?:D
the comment on yoiutube is yet another prove that people in general are idiots.

Not really. Though I find his explanation quite amusing, he must think that people are fools.

Ziobro's famous "hoarse voice" moment, when he got a bit emotional and lost his cool at one of the nutter conventions.

I am prone to believe he had problems with his throat and vocal cords which went out of control. It happens when you shout for too long. Check at 4.40 min. Also, he tries to excuse his squeaking at 8:27.

I doubt it very much, his eyes were filled with water and his hand was shaking, he almost lost it.

A month ago, Zbigniew Ziobro, leader of a newly formed conservative right wing party, Solidarna Polska

PiS is a bit extreme sometimes (or at least it's current leader) I've heard from many Poles that they like this party. Hopefully it will go straight to the top.

You were indeed very lucky to meet/know that 3%. :):):):)

He just started his party a month back, give him time.

Kaczynski needs to go away. He's had his run, he should just stop before he makes an even bigger fool out of himself. As many problems as Civic Platform has, they are still better than the PiS. IMO, a lot of people who vote for Kaczynski and PiS are the poor, backward and ultra nationalistic people from Eastern Poland.

No silver spoon. And not so much a coincidence since most Poles in the US are already pro PiS. I also come from southeastern Poland which is very pro PiS.

Yes, that`s interesting. I have just thought that most US Poles` origin can be traced back to south-eastern Poland.

BTW, you should be more careful what you write. E.g., this one

I've heard from many Poles that they like this party.

might have caused a serious misunderstanding. It sounded like Polish Poles while you meant US Poles.

His biggest problem is that people know him already.

And call his party PiS bis.

What territories you are calling south-eastern Poland - that is interesting.

Are you really that stupid or you're just playing?? where are you getting all of this from? I just told you that it's not so much a coincidence when looking at Poles who come from a particular part of the country, your map even points that out.

Using reason in a discussion isn`t your biggest asset, that`s for sure. Funny that most PiS supporters are like that. :):):):):):)

Never mind. I will live with that.

What territories you are calling south-eastern Poland - that is interesting.

Probably the regions which are in the south and east part of Poland.

Are you a PiS supporter like Penboy that you ask such questions? :):):):):)

PS. But we mustn`t forget about north east.

The next president of Poland will be Jarosław Gowin. Some analysts beleive he will soon break away from PO and set up a new party of his own. It cannot be ruled out that SP and PJN will join in and the new party will attract an exodus from both PO and PiS.

He's got a presidential demenaour (the Kaczyńskis definitily do not, nor does Tusk). Komorowski looks presidential, plus he's a blue-blood and patriot who would probably feel more at home in a Gowin rather than a Tusk-run party (look at his poltical to'roots).

But evertyhting is possible in love, war and politics, so don't hold your breath!

We could do worse, but we could also do better. He's got a big fan base in Krakow, however there are stronger contenders elsewhere.

plus he's a blue-blood

hmmmmm

But evertyhting is possible in love, war and politics, so don't hold your breath!

Personally I would favour either Jerzy Buzek ( a true statesman), Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz (very competent running Warsaw) or Radek Sikorski (a breath of fresh air).
Polonius3 993 | 12,357
9 May 2012 #113
Buzek would be fine except for age. Gronkowiec (as she is known in Poland) is a total waste. Sikrorski was OK (dynamic pro-Polish patriotic stance, bilingual and bilcultral. presidential appearance.plus an Amercan wife with Jewish roots which would shut up the pro-semite Pole

baiters) until he became a turncoat and defected to Tusk.
jon357 74 | 22,060
9 May 2012 #114
I'm not sure age is a problem - the President doesn't have an executive role and Buzek's age doesn't stop him from being a remarkably effective European Commissioner. When I met him recently he seemed in his prime. Gronkiewicz-Waltz has performed very well running Warsaw and Sikorski is uncompromised. Tusk would make a good President.

Is the present Polish presidency the optimum choice? Wałęsa wanted a stronger presidency. Poland's is not as wimpy as that of Germany but a far cry from France or the US. Maybe something in betwween would be better -- giving the presidency a bit moire muscle and initaitve for a true balance of power between the presidency and government.

There was talking of making ex.-presidents senators for life with full voting powers, but nothing came of it.
Too bad the Sejm has not been trimmed down to let's say 150 or 200 MPs and the Senate to 50. Too many darmozjady!
jon357 74 | 22,060

Pretty well the best choice. It wouldn't do to have a situation where there is a confusion between the roles of Head of State and Head of Government - although. LK did his best to create conflict. And I've never heard much enthusiasm for a US style executive president.

I like the idea of former presidents in the Senate though. Former prime ministers should also be there in the same way as the British ones can choose to enter the upper house.

No, silly, those cities are Ukrainian. :):):) Let`s stick to Poland, shall we?

Nope, the Polish model is not so bad as it assumes a healthy balance between three bodies: The President, the Prime Minister and the Parliament.

Too bad the Sejm has not been trimmed down to let's say 150 or 200 MPs and the Senate to 50. Too many darmozjady!

150 - 200 would be probably too low for a country of 38 million but around 300 - why not.

o, silly, those cities are Ukrainian. :):):) Let`s stick to Poland, shall we?

so your theory is busted, because there is no territorial stratification for people immigrating to the USA after WWII from Poland.

150 - 200 would be probably too low for a country of 38 million but around 300 - why not.

Why not 222 or 301 or 1000 eh? there should be some idea behind those numbers not just - err maybe there is too many MP ! Based on what - hunch ?

I would say that there are too many idiots talking rubbish !
