Where is the biggest anti-Polonism in Europe today? As a Polish citizen, where would you not like to travel? We could divide this by West and Eastern Europe. If you've been a victim of ant-Polish attitude then what was the reason behind it?

My brother in law has told me a few times of the abuse he recieved in Germany when working there years ago, the UK wasnt such a great place either circa 2006-2008. Other than those two i cant really think of any, but of course im not Polish.

I do not know if this is anti-Polonism, but when two years ago, I heard from a British person an advice go back to your sh*tty country I thought it was. Now, I am not sure if this is typically British.

No - just a desperate insult when they've lost an argument or have no real reason. Whenever I have a debate with anyone in England and am critical of something, they often say, "well, **** off back to Poland then if it's so great" ( suggesting of course, that compared to magic Britain, it isin't!)

In Germany, there tends to be the perception that Poles are inferior. Then again, the Germans see almost anyone else in that way.

I think many Brits have no problems with Poles. It's just the swamping effect that sours the milk.

Poles are pretty well received across Europe.

Nah, Italians and Poles are close enough due to the prevalent ski culture. Having said that, I remember a story from my 15-year old student from a few years back. He told me that a couple of Italian shopkeepers refused to speak to him in English. They persisted in speaking Italian and it drove him nuts as his English was top drawer.

There will always be specific instances of foolishness.

I am sure the Italians have nothing against Poles. At least not against the women. Hell, they like all women.

I would argue that in what was the old east germany there seems to be a common bond.

England. That“s probably the most anti-Polish place I can think of.

Probably true, Wroc³aw. The ex-commie connection going strong ;) ;)

BB, I should have put wink marks there, sorry. The truth is, I don't know what the majority of Germans think so I wheeled out a stereotype for good measure :) I liked Berlin a lot and felt great in Germany.

Truth be told, I don't think other Europeans think too much about Poles. Only the UK as there are so many there. Otherwise, 'out of sight, out of mind' applies.

I'm glad that it hasn't gone back to the world wars, that's a bonus :) People have got their own issues in life without worrying too much about what people from other countries think.

I travelled all around Europe and nowhere have I encountered any kind
of "anti-polonism" towards me. Quite the contrary - in some countries people
were very polite (Hungary, Czech Republic, Ireland, France, Bulgaria) and in
Ukraine an older man even offered me free lodging for the night in his apartment.

I didn't get any warm gestures or signs of sympathy in Germany or Denmark,
but no negative reactions either so, for me personally, talking about anti-Polinism
is a little bit of an exagerration.

I have mixed feelings about this country. I have read comments like yours and still wonder why the h'ell Poles want to work in Germany? I would hate to see Poles taking it in the a'ss because they felt like they had to.

Because the comments you read are hardly ever true - simple as that.

You pick a tiny minority as an example? The NPD has less than 7000 members in Germany.

Besides: :)
