skysoulmate: people on the other end of the phone line have no idea that they're dealing with the visually impaired. That's really awesome. Reminds me of a class I had attended, People With Abilities. The course described some of the challenges and obstacles, that physically and mentally challenged people must sometimes face.
There used to be a government building located in Riverside CA. It had a cafeteria, with a completely blind cashier. He was able to determine the monetary amount of both paper and coin money, that was handed to him. I imagine coins would be easier, because of the ridges. The paper money seemed absolutely fascinating :)
