Children licking cream off a Polish priest's legs "inappropriate" says NGO

I don't know whether to be more surprised that the NGO says that this was 'inappropriate' or that the school put photos of the event happening up on its website.

A children's NGO has said that 13 year-old pupils were "manipulated" into licking cream off a priest's bare legs during an initiation ceremony' to a high school in Lubin, southern Poland.

Photos of the initiation ceremony at the St. Dominika Savio Silesian School (Gimnazjum Salezjańskie) in Lubln were posted on the high school's web site.
Director at the school, Father Marcin Kozyra, told TV Odra that the initiation ceremony for first year pupils had been an annual event for many years and "neither students or parents ever complained."
Janina Jakubowska, from the board of trustees at the Lower Silesia Education Board warned "not to judge the case too hastily. We do not know the exact circumstances," she told the Gazeta Wyborcza daily.
"It was an initiation ceremony: maybe it was the kids idea," she volunteered.
The local prosecuting office said that though "this exceeded the limit of good taste, no crime was committed, with no sexual intent."
Monika Sajkowska, from the Nobody's Child Foundation NGO, while agreeing that the intentions of the priest at the school may have been innocent, judged the behaviour as "inappropriate".
The photographs of the initiation ceremony have now been removed from the school's web site.

Ugh! I wonder how long it will take for Polonius3 to come along and, instead of condemning it, he will post a link to similar atrocities committed by "the Jew".

Are they for real? Yes, licking cream off a priest's legs is inappropriate.

of course it is inappropriate, but I read in GW today that the letter from the students, the teachers and the parents were issued, all stating that they don't see a problem. So as we can see, the tree parties less or more directly involved don't seem to mind, while the public opinion is stunned. The priest in question refused to comment. Strange story in my opinion. Now I can see how the abuse by the priest has been going on for so long within some Polish circles and that it has been treated with either silence, acceptance or even approval of such 'innocent" clergy behavior.

Harry, you're taking the ****, aren't you? There's no way that this story is real...

... I'm speechless. Absolutely so.

the letter from the students, the teachers and the parents were issued, all stating that they don't see a problem.

How on earth could any educational professional not see a problem with this? For that matter, what on earth was the priest thinking?

In the long run, damn right.....lets face it, it was the Countries tied slavishly to Rome who were the last to develop in Europe.

You see, if you believe the bollox about divine rights in Rome then its easier to swallow the bollox of the divine rights of Kings as gods second voice on Earth.....

and ergo swallowing the bollox of a pervert priest because they can do no wrong.......

It is simply disgusting and should be officially banned. Did he wash his knees before the act? I am sure he didn `t. Yuk!

It doesn't need to be banned, it just needs to be dealt with using common sense - he should be fired for showing exceptionally poor judgement.

The fact that he felt the need to submit kids to such degrading and humiliating treatment is enough. How many of those kids are going to grow up with the impression that all priests are just sick perverts?

No, no, don`t hold the whole ceremomy in contempt. It was sort of traditional ritual, present in many places in Poland - schools, unis, scouts, workplaces etc. It takes different forms but the idea is like in ancient times - introduce a novice into a new environment/group.

But normally kids don`t have to lick anything from anybody`s knees. In our school we had various crazy contests.

PS. Which I have never really approved of because I suppose not all kids like such acts. I would prefer not to see such pranks.

Looks like a bad joke gone wrong to me.

Poland is very very innocent in many ways, of course people of position can do wicked things and get away with it because of this but this just looks like people doing stupid things to me.

Funny how none of the people involved, or their parents see anything wrong but on PF it's a perverted act, we simply do not know enough to draw such conclusions.

Yes, thanks to Catholic upbringing which has been prevalent so far.

When it finishes one day, we will become as rotten as the West.

Yes, thanks to Catholic upbringing which has been prevalent so far.

You seem like you just post stuff at this stage, you used to be a better poster.

That is not what I was talking about, tonight is a good example, in the men's changing room of the swimming pool, two women were clearing the water from the floor.

They are not perverts, I think.

I think what changes a country is the "no win, no fee" suing culture, cups of coffee with "contents may be hot" on them, sexual harassment law suits.

Of course priest having been caught molesting children has taken many people's innocence away.

It will change and not because of your silly notion of Catholicism but because there are bad people in the world who do molest children and some of them are Catholic priests or are you going to say that that only happens in the "West"?

sobieski:

You have a very peculiar sense of what is appropriate.
The weird thing is how everybody kowtowed to that pervertism.
I suppose the priest got a kick out of it. The Master
In "rotten Western Europe" as you so aptly describe it....this pervert would be put in a jail, and then they would throw the keys away...

And he would be subjected to the "attentions" of every criminal. In the pecking order in a Western European jail pervert priests are on the low end.

After all, every bank robber has a little daughter :)

You are talking codswallop, you're not even addressing what I said about the topic, just what I said about you, that much has changed.

this pervert would be put in a jail

No, there would be an inquire, we do have a criminal justice system to protect the innocent, even the very very innocent.

I think the photo says it all - the children were involved in a degrading, humiliating act. It may not be technically illegal, but it is a severe lapse of judgement.

PS. Which I have never really approved of because I suppose not all kids like such acts. I would prefer not to see such pranks.

I don't approve of such things full stop - they can be humiliating and often are used as an excuse to bully weaker members of a group.

You seem to confuse ethics...One is (where you put the pictures) about silly teenage stuff (through which we all have gone somewhere, somehow). The other one is about a pervert priest, and the whole environment kowtowing to it.

The thing is...in the "Rotten West" as you put it...this guy would be put in jail. In your view this is a joke.

But of course we all know that church excesses exist all over the world...but seemingly halt at the German/Polish border?
P.S. I am waiting for your next personal attack :)

You are behaving mister popular.... I do not care about you anything. But in disguise you are a PolAm mole. I love to start squabbles with you again, big time. Seems I am not the only one :).

Seems you are one of these people who think a forum is his complete life.
Some PF members warned me you are a bully. I think you are very sad :))))

"Otrzęsiny" is normal tradition in some parts of Poland... when I used to go to the Polish School in the UK we had it as well, and nobody was complaining. Apart from that i will not write about all you sick perverts that can think only about one thing... for me it is just a silly prank like Smingus Dyngus etc.. ;)

Yes, delph, I can agree with you. :):):):) If it depended on me, I would eradicate those customs from places. But they hold strong somehow. Tradition?

Many vile things are often done in the name of "tradition" - and there's just no excuse for it. Look at the huge problems the Russian Army has with the bullying of conscripts, or how those American fraternity organisations often do really horrible things as part of an "imitation" ceremony.

"Otrzęsiny" is normal tradition in some parts of Poland

The backwards parts, yes.

when I used to go to the Polish School in the UK we had it as well, and nobody was complaining.

You licked cream from the knees of a grown man?
