The English service of Polish Radio today carries the following item:

As many as 18 people have died and 304 poisoned after taking designer, or smart drugs in Poland, claims a report by the Health Ministry.

In 2010, 304 people were hospitalized after taking the drugs which have prompted the government to crack down on shops selling previously “legal highs”.

According to Deputy Health Minister Adam Fronczak, the number of designer drug victims has fallen dramatically after the government launched its campaign at the beginning of October, however.

“Most cases were reported in the two first weeks of October,” said Fronczak, after blanket coverage of the issue in Polish media.

Designer drugs exist in all kinds of varieties, so it's impossible to tell you about all the effects of each particular drug. They create these drugs in many varieties, so that it becomes almost impossible to label each particular drug as illegal. (America declared all designer drugs illegal though, no matter what type of synthesis.)

Today President Komroowski signed the anti-designer drug bill into law. Hopefully this will end both the public health hazard as well as the hypocrisy of big red pills being sold as 'collector's items' and cynically labelled 'not for human consumption' (wink, wink). Ever heard of a teenager who keeps pills and powders in a glass cabinet for friends to admire as a hobby?

This won't end ****. These designer drugs will continue to be available, just like marijuana is easily obtainable despite it being illegal. All of these dopalacze store owners are already working on how to continue dealing/selling them.

Search for "salvia" on youtube to see what these drugs do.

They're just sending them in from Slovakia as the law was sloppy (as mentioned earlier in a previous thread).

The region of central and Eastern Europe has among the highest levels of alcohol consumption in the world [7]
Popova S, Rehm J, Patra J, Zatonski W. Comparing alcohol consumption in central and eastern Europe to other European countries. Alcohol Alcohol. 2007;42(5):465–473

Why all this hoohaa when the real killer is in our midst, BOOZE, DRINK, ALCOHOL.

And who designed it?

MONKS...that is who.

Of all the weapons of mass destruction, alcohol has claimed more lives than every war ever... and it's development and spread went with the Monstries and Monks.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Just a question: Polish people are famous for collecting mushrooms in the forests. In a lot of "western" countries, this knowledge is all but gone. Now there are a lot of natural mushrooms "helping people out". Is it too simple to say "who cares about shops if Mother Nature provides"?

This is why I shall continue to vote Ultra Conservative/Catholic even though I might not agree with their abortion laws and Age of consent for sexual relationships

But it sure is the lesser evil of having a State which is Indifferent to Drug Taking/Drug addicts
[as in such countries.. drugs needles are given for free ! ]
drugs is the real devil to come around since Poland has gained 'freedoms' , this one freedom being an evil freedom for drug chieftains to be ruining society with this devilish things.
Go back to your backward rainforest/desert country and smoke/snort your drugs there - Narkomaństwo Won z Polski

@Zetigrek: I was referring to plucking mushrooms that are freely available in the woods and which have a "very nice" influence on the person taking them.

@ POLENGG: what do you prefer? Huge bills (thus huge taxes) for people suffering from HIV or hepatitis or providing clean needles. It's not so simple, you know. And besides, I guess it is a well-known fact that if you liberalise drug use, crime rates go down substantially, but the State can even charge VAT on the sale of drugs. It is calculating that the Dutch government can earn over E 800m on VAT on the sale of soft drugs a year. Personally I am against hard drugs as well, although people who advocate the liberalization of hard drugs have a good point (i.e. reducing crime rates, amongst others) as well.

there are many kinds of łysiczka machroom and not every is hallucinogenius. It's hard to recognize proper łysiczka (as far as I've read).
I also have some mushroom which resembles łysiczka but its not łysiczka lancetowata (Psilocybe semilanceata).
Have you ever tried to eatthe thing which was growing on your garden? how are the effects?? ;)

Not these days!

I would have done some years back though. They are definitely magic mushrooms - not hard to recognise in my opinion with the distinctive size/shape/nipple etc

is an important element in the process of natural selection. Stupid people take drugs and sometimes die. i wouldn't worry about that too much...
