A 71 year old man has been arrested in Warsaw after throwing a jar of liquid excrement at the plaque unveiled last week on the wall of the Presidential Palace, in memory of the Smolensk crash victims.

The attack on the plaque occurred at around 14.00 CET this afternoon. The elderly man was immediately led away by police after he had thrown the contents of a jar over the plaque.

The plaque was unveiled last Thursday by Jacek Michałowski of the President’s Office and vice president of Warsaw, Jacek Wojciechowicz and was greeted negatively by protestors who want a larger, permanent monument placed in front of the President Palace in honour of the 96 victims of the Smolensk air crash on April 10.
