Probably the same people who funded the large ones in the UK. Rich Saudis who have the cash and the motivation to "spread" the word.

There are claims that the liga muzu³mańska w RP has ties with the Muslim Brotherhood but I don't know enough to verify that or not (link FYI only)

the first church there

There are already churches in Saudi, even a lot. The relationship between private and public life there is different to Europe, so non-muslim religions have to be more discreet. But they certainly exist. Hindu and Sikh temples too.

They're apparently OK about one copy of the bible for personal use, but will confiscate crucifixes, Jewish prayer shawls, Hindu statues etc. And Christmas decorations.

Most of the churches (and pubs) are on foreigners' compounds where the Saudi mutaween (religious police) can't enter, or at office complexes run by overseas (usually American or British) companies.

A lot depends on the region - in effect it is three countries, the fundamentalist central part round the capital, the cosmopolitan and densely populated but still muslim west coast and the sparsely populated oil part in the east which is full of educated people living in New Towns and non-sunni muslims (apparently about half the people you see on the streets are foreign - Saudis stay at home) and a bit more liberal.

But still the atmosphere is oppressive, lots of Saudis have weekend homes over the border in Oman or in Bahrain or Dubai where they can let their hair down, and the younger generation who've grown up with satellite TV are very different to their forebears. A potential future flashpoint.

I'm very seriously thinking about going there for work (just had an interview) - there are a lot of foreigners there, largely for one reason.

We've had people out in Abu Dhabi office for a few months (which is more liberal) who cant wait to get back to the UK - its still restrictive...So imagine what Saudi is like? Also take into consideration, whilst you pay no tax, there's the tourist tax they charge you (not Saudis) on everything you purchase....I had the opportunity to work in Dubai about 5 years ago, but decided against, whilst the ex pat scene sounded great, there were also the down sides....

You're a gay man..one hint of your sexuality and Im sure someone wouldnt think twice about telling the police...

I'm trying to. People say that it's like nowhere else on earth. European and American expats tend to retreat into hermetically sealed expat enviromnents to blot out the peculiarities of life there. The long holidays help too.

Straight men complain bitterly about being cruised and even groped by handsome Arabs and often don't stay long. Or drive to Bahrain at weekends. The Saudis have little concept of gay identity (though there are a couple of VERY discreet gay bars) but a huge amount of homosexual, including lesbian, activity due to having little or no contact with the opposite sex outside their immediate family. Apparently the thousands of European gay men say it is like Disneyland and stay for years. ;-)

I'm still worried though. If you're caught (and you're white) they deport you immediately with no chance of return. For darker skinned people the realities are much worse.

brate Grzegorze, money coming from same people that invested in penetration of Islam onto Serbian lands on Balkan. Its part of same plan, do doubts about it.

Anyway, particularly, Saudi Arabia is often mentioned in rapports connected with mujaheedines and new mosques in Bosnia.

In Egypt, Christians who live there since ancient times (Copts) are banned from holding
high positions in administration or armed forces and they are not allowed to build new
churches
. Egyptian authorities are limiting the number of Coptic students.
On the 6th of January six Christians were murdered in Nag Hammadi after a Mass when
muslims opened fire at them from a car driving past the church. And that's in Egypt!
What happens in Pakistan, Nigeria, Sudan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Somalia or Afghanistan
is even more terrifying.

In Jemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Quatar, Somalia or Mauretania, leaving islam
for Christianity (or any other faith) is punishable by death.

Open Doors organisation estimates that over 100 million Christians worldwide
are persecuted, mostly by Muslims (including thousands of cases of imprisonment,
torture and murder).

I say - keep the murdering, paedophile worshipping animals out of Poland, for the sake
of next generations of Poles.

The main funding is comming from a private Saudi investor.

There is a small mosque in Warsaw already and it is very small for the amount of muslims in the city. With 5,000 members they have not received permits so far to build a new larger mosque, but this new organization, with 180 members, has.

There are 210 Catholic parishes in Warsaw.

There's plenty of that in Saudi. They go there to walk down the road with a member of the opposite sex, go to a disco or the cinema (banned in Saudi) or get a drink somewhere that's not sleazy and furtive.

I was in Kuwait and that was bad enough. My boss there later moved to the Saudi school and ended up doing a few years in an Abu Dhabi prison after he got fitted up on a drugs charge. Apparently there are few worse places to be a gay man than a middle eastern prison. There are details here.

Well, if you just want to earn a bit of money, go for it..I personally just couldnt live like, but its not me thats considering it.

I have already mentioned this several times...The most extreme will teach the most extreme forms of Islam...most of the London bombers went to the mosque funded by the saudis!

You can have lots, but it depends on how they thrive...

Ah, are you on one of your lie-filled rampages again, Harry?

You probably see nazis everywhere, and if anyone talks about "taking action" in one form or another, in any thread, about god knows what, then you have to put the jews in there....just so nobody gets ahead in the "suffering" category, which has been held by the jewish people for 2000 years, and should remain so, according to you, for another 2000 years.

You are hereby awarded the Pole-basher award of the month!

Well, look at the transformation of Sarajevo. The Saudi-bought mosque could be interpreted as a symbol of victory for Islam there. Warsaw already has the Palace of Culture and Science, why does it need anything else? Plus, pretending to be tolerant is just not right. Put it to a referendum and you'll see just how much of a non-starter the idea is.
