As compared to the microscopic "reader" ship of Julius Streicher's "Nasz Dziennik" you mean ?
And looks like all Polish language share my joy.

The Polish language shares your joy? Hmmm...

Since he is avoiding that issue, I'll tell you. They claim to sell around 100,000 copies, about a tenth of Gazeta Wyborcza's with a read-through of only around half as much again. Poles are therefore around nine or ten times likely to buy GW and many more times more likely to read it.

Though given that 'Nasz Dziennik's' core audience have to move their lips while reading, the sound of all those false teeth stuck with crumbs of communion wafer and crushed laxative tablets can't be a pleasant sight.

How do I know you are American?
cos you say 100 000 is a tenth of 334 129 nice one.

The same way you 'know' so many, many false and untrue things.

Now tell me, do you know the difference between newspaper sales figures and read-through? When your crisp copy of Rydzykisch Beobachter arrives, do you throw it away after reading (a good idea) or do you pass it on to the other inmates?

Smartbum are you talking about numers as such:
  • Type Daily newspaper
  • Format Compact
  • Owner Agora SA
  • Editor Adam Michnik
  • Founded 1989
  • Political alignment Social liberal
  • Language Polish
  • Headquarters Warsaw
  • Circulation 470,000
  • Official website wyborcza.pl

According to the publisher, its circulation is about 150,000 with a sell-through of about 100,000. Alternate sources have listed its 1999 circulation at 250,000 [3] and its 1998 readership at 600,000.

FAIL. AGAIN!!! CRY!!!

Nice. Looks like Aborcza is really going down. About time.

I don't move my lips while reading, and my teeth are in perfect condition, thank you.

By the way - could any of you, twats from "I hate Nasz Dziennik" bandwagon,
actually quote one article from it, that would express racist, xenophobic or anti-semite
views? Just post a link to the article, please - because I read "ND" every now and again,
and somehow I've never found any such articles in it. Well, I'm waiting...

*I wouldn't hold my breath though*

People still buy physical papers?
alexw68  Jan 5, 11, 21:47    #14
Whatever way you skin this chaps, it's still a non-story.

+/- 5% is just stochastic volatility (white noise, if you prefer) - a normal month-on-month adjustment. Secondly, where there are bigger swings, they are common to all in the quality (humour me here, GW is not red-top tabloid bollocks) print media sector, thanks to pressure from a saturated market, lack of reading time and the Intarwebs. Don't discount the effects of konjunktura either - in harder times, print of any kind is increasingly seen as a luxury expenditure (but downsizing the cable TV contract would be as traumatic as an amputation to most people - go figure)

Just one of hundreds of similar cases in the UK broadsheet market can be found here:

Keep crying. It's Wiki data not mine.
From 2007 GW lost over 120 000 readers . Really nice.
gowno prawda

What ever. There was no crisis in 2010 in Poland. So unless you ready to admit that Wybiórcza and PO are lying you not allowed to use this argument. :-)

Repeat - this is a sector-wide issue. It is NOT solely a GW story. Rzeczpospolita's circulation is currently around 160K, down from c 260K a few years ago [Source: WikiPedia].

And the correct conclusion is ... ?

If you read my post carefully again, you will notice that I suggest something contrary.

It is all those muppets from "We hate Nasz Dziennik" bandwagon, who keep accusing
ND of the abovementioned views.

That Gazeta Wyborcza and Rzeczpospolita reflect European trends in newspapers? :)

(heck, they reflect world trends - plenty of American newspapers are suffering too).

The funniest thing here is that Gazeta Wyborcza is still #1.

How many young people aged 18-30 actually buy it, as opposed to reading on gazeta.pl for instance?

Still, nice to see that the usual suspects are as obsessed with Gazeta Wyborcza as normal. And - that - is why PiS will never, ever regain power.

Incidentally, isn't the circulation of Agora's freesheet more than making up for the loss of readers from Gazeta Wyborcza?

Actually - it was Jonni who called Nasz Dziennik "Rydzykisch Beobachter",
making a thick allusion to Nazi "Völkischer Beobachter."

Hopefully not. They are a bunch of socialists (God-fearing socialists, but socialists nonetheless.)

What about I just post some of the nonsense posted about Smolensk? The undertones of EVIL RUSSIA EVIL RUSSIA are so sickeningly obvious, even to a foreigner like me. The fact that they've posted some downright nonsense about it all is enough for me.

Incidentally, it's not just me that's noticed that Nasz Dziennik has toned down a lot (apart from the Smolensk-nonsense) in recent months? No doubt Rydzyk, being a smart guy, has realised that the government is now free to close the newspaper down without fuss.

Sure, if you found something xenophobic, racist or anti-semitic there.

No, I'm not interested in "undertones", as you put it. Just quote an article and show
me something concrete, substantial - that could be considered xenophobic or anti-Russian
in them. Then I will admit I was wrong.

I'll keep an eye on the website - though weirdly, they seem to be now supporting the official version of events. I don't get it - they've been publishing nonsense for months, and now they're posting an eyewitness view that confirms fog and a horrific plane crash?

Oh, by all means, don't limit yourself to current articles only. Feel free to search the archives
as well. Just find me something concrete, that would show us all how terrible this "nazi",
"fascist", "Rydzykisch Beobachter" rag, really is. Just one article, it's all I ask for.

Good luck.

and what is the problem I ask?

GW still has one of the best written articles. I am an avid reader online and of the paper version.

I left Poland 8 year ago and I remember that it was a free country in regards to freedom of reading. Now I hear that my neighbour harasses my elderly father because he reads GW - that is a shame since he was there when her husband tried to kill her (true story).

It is interesting how some people have seen life and still don't understand what goes around them.

To make to story short: all those who think that they can stop people from reading what they want to read: fek off. It ain't gonna happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am still waiting for the OP to show what is wrong with GW.
