Aha, I-S. So Varsovian is not only one thing? So why did polmed speak of 'we Varsovians', an all-encompassing term?

No it is not.
Why she said what she said ? Ask her, I'm not her parrot:)

hague1cmaeron:
The only disappointing bit was to see Polish rightists trash the city and attack the police, the organizers of these marches should be prosecuted.

Do you know who was attacking police, you leftist trash ? How come ?

She doesn't answer. I just thought, being Polish, that you'd have insight here which non-Poles don't have. Only Poles can read Polish history books and understand them ;) Norman Davies is a fraud and his Polish is, well, not as good as those kur*a-shouting folk with dyslexia, right? ;) Seems I was wrong. Sorry! My wife doesn't understand polmed either and she has the added benefit of having German blood as well as being Polish by education and language.

When you offer invitations, people invariably accept :)

Why don't you stick to the topic?
Chill out dude I did say that you are clueless.I have only said that you are not an expert in all things Polish.
You are not!
The marsh on the Independent Day was an event which had little to do with play directed by certain groups to pass certain legislation in Poland.
Now, if you were Polish you would understand what I mean - ain't that difficult :)

Southern, I meant it in a cynical and jokey way that she'd somehow know more about the conflict by virtue of being part German. Read above for the background.

You said I was clueless, I-S? Really? Pass certain legislation? What? As I said, be very careful what you call yourself in life. I'm no expert, nor do I profess to be. Polmed isn't either.

Gregrog asked a good question to which I have no answer.

Poland was chosen as a battle ground because it was supposed that duting independance day celebrations pogroms of minorities took place.

If I understand correctly, a speaker of the anarchists denies that the German groups were in part responsible for the violence. He says that the Germans were under constant observation by Polish security forces and already arrested around noon, while the riots started later in the afternoon. No idea if that is true or not.

your english is far superior to my Polish but I feel you are a long way yet from understanding a lot of the subtle phrases and get yourself all in a tizz for nothing :)

Haha , but you are not talking with me about Gray`s code . Your English sounds simple to me and I assure you that I do not have any problems with understanding it .

The main difference is that I don`t use colloquialism in my texts . I know my english mainly from reading books rather than from everyday talking . But this doesn`t create too much problems for me with comprehension of your posts .

According to what I know, the speaker is right when it comes to time, but wrong about hte violence. The were arrested around noon but ater some fights with innocent people around Nowy Swiat cafe.

Rubbish and you know it, Poland on 11/11 /1918 was created by the allied powers. Poland that stood upto the soviet invasion a couple of years later was created by Poles.

That is rubbish I'm afraid, The Poles created their own independence through their own endeavors through the countless number of uprisings in the 19th century. What is more Germany and Russia were in no position to hold on to Polish territory after the war, since they were too weak and had no apatite for fighting further, both Russia and Germany promised Poland independence during the war to induce the Poles to fight on their side.

The Poles also pressed the issue through uprisings in Silesia etc, and they managed to carve out a sizable piece of territory despite the best efforts of that ignorant fool Lloyd George.

Far better to say have Battle of Warsaw Day or Booted out the Communists Day as the focus of national pride IMHO.

When my wife asked if I knew which day is Polish Independence Day, I had to ask "Which time?" and "From whom?"
