Today's article in Deutsche Welle, http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,15133896,00.html
There are fewer Polish laborers on German fields this summer, after Berlin lifted restrictions that prevented them from working in other sectors. Now Romanians are taking their place picking strawberries and asparagus.
(...)
Last year, Poles made up two thirds of the seasonal workers in German agriculture. But this year, it's hardly worth it for Polish workers to toil in German fields for 6.40 euros ($9.50) per hour, when they are being courted to take jobs in higher paying fields.

That's an encouraging trend..

Not really...there is a labor shortage which is bound to get worse....

http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,15075929,00.html

The head of Germany's labor agency has said the country will face a massive shortage of qualified workers in the coming years, predicting that some 2 million of them will have to be acquired from abroad.

let Germanics now exploit a little bit Romanics. Why always Slavs? Romanics and Germancs are anyway all the same and looks on Slavs from above. But, let me tell you something, there from where i coming , we don`t look at them as on people from above. Far from it

So, i am happy for Poles. They deserve some more intellectual jobs

"We're competing worldwide for the best brains," said Education Minister Annette Schavan in reference to the country's shortage of high-skilled workers.

At present, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce DIHK estimates that Germany has a shortage of around 500,000 engineers and master craftsmen.

The physicians' association Marburger Bund said Germany currently lacks 12,000 doctors at hospitals and 3,000 general practitioners.

Those numbers are quite high.

It doesn't state the cause, is that because of the ageing population or something?

Well there is a shortage of well paying jobs here in Poland, so it could work out for the neighbours, I hope.

Edit*

German unemployment figures for 2011 at 7.40 % .

Are they unqualified or am I missing something? I could be just tired and not following properly, hmmm more than likely.
