Forgive me father, I'm ugly as sin

A Polish priest has started a row after opening a nationwide chain of cafe-bars
promising to employ only sexy waitresses.

Fr. Henryk Jankowski, a priest who played a prominent role in the Solidarity movement, said: "Ugly women need not bother applyiing to become waitresses in my cafes."

He is to open a chain of 16 cafe-bars across Poland and will only employ good-loking girls. He dismissed critics, satubg it was all ,for charity.

So how will that differentiate his bars DP? Seemed to me that all Polish bars were like that. Not that I noticed of course, but it was pointed out to me by some of my colleagues

Fr Jankowski was the first priest to officially suopport the striking Gdańsk shipyard workers in August 1980, and said mass for them and heard their confession when other priests cowered and peered out from behind closed curtains... His home served as a meeting place for undergroiund Solidarity during martial law, because even the commie regime honoured age-old principle of eccelsiastical sanctuary... Jankowski like Popiełuszko helped uplift the spirits of the downtrodden Poles following Jaruzelskis' military coup against his own nation. Every self-resepcting Western statesman made it a point to pay him a visit... He wined and dined the likes of Meg Thatcher, Ted Kennedy and many others. He also had a few eccentricities (who doesn't?!). Marketing a wine with his image on the label is a bit off the wall... The Western press naturally played the anti-Semitic card, because he had made a few statements that Jews were overrepresented in various walks of Polish life (which is true) in relation to their numerical strength. His positive achievements far outnumbered his gaffes and fumbles. May God rest His soul!

It's interesting to note that while Jankowski was suspended from preaching for his alleged anti-semitic remarks, I never heard about a suspension of a rabbi or an imam for anti-christian remarks.

- Yes he is dead. So? Did you even know him? We shouldn't talk about it or what? That was not polite, I agree, but that is how Ironside feels, and I'd put the opinions of the living first before opinions or feelings (?!) of the deceased or ghosts;).

Jankowski was a hardened antisemite, wallowing in luxury (why a priest have to open bars, label his own wine?).
The episcopate here seldom silences priests, they did it for a good reason.

If we are going to depreciate Wawel, we should to it all the way. And I want to be done really fast, so, when the time comes, I could be buried there too. Do you have any problem with that, Ironside? Why? And it will irritate Krakusy, so much the better!
