Has anyone in Poland that you know been affected by H1N1? (swine flu)

Has anyone in Poland gotten H1N1? What has anyone been doing to keep them self healthy?

poles are built to last....and maybe the consumption of pork crackling has provided a sort immunity.

Naah, it's gotta be the cabbage..full of antioxidants you know.
Killing a worm with a shot of vodka helps too. :)

You do research, not a research (a research project, for example).

I eat plenty of garlic which staves off most ailments. It does the trick.

After reading about the outbreak in Ukraine which affected quite a lot of people , i was expecting this virus to affect more Polish people than it did , but it turned out to be a bit of a non starter , perhaps because the severe winter killed the virus off....

Most Poles that i know did not take any special measures to remain healthy , and did not think of this virus as anything to worry about....

I do wonder if the Chernobyl accident in some way lowered the resistance of the Ukrainian people to this virus...I know a few folks in Ukraine , they seem to be ill quite a lot from one thing or another...

The Poles are a bit tougher i think...

H1N1 was over hyped so the drug companies could make a killing, I spoke to one of my friends who's a GP in the UK and he thought that its no worse than the usual flu outbreak and a lot of people have had it without really realising.

Its next years flu we need to be worrying about.

Personally to stave off illness if i feel the onset of something I get down to lidls and buy loads of their disgusting multivitamin drink and drink gallons of the stuff, eat chopped garlic on read and it seems to do the trick.

Viruses can infect in temperatures below 0 Celsius degrees, and can survive in temperatures far below 0. Scientists even keep viruses for experiments in temperatures as low as -196 Celsius degrees.

Although the viruses are really tough and hard to destroy (not to kill because from the biological point of view - they are not alive) bastards, most of them can't fly in the air. Instead they travel in the tiny droplets of water. I the temperatures belove zero these droplets are extremely rare, therefore the chances for viruses to propagate are highly restricted during the winter.

Answering the title question - I was affected by the swine flu. All this story made me laugh so hard that I've been a little dizzy for a moment. :)

In my house its cold enough to kill anything...apart from me , as i am a Yorkshireman and too dumb to know what hyperthermia is...!

Three times the number of cases and suspected cases of flu were recorded in the first week of October in Poland than in the same period last year. The majority of reported cases were diagnosed as swine flu.

Between October 1-7, 15,750 cases or suspected cases of flu were registered in Poland, up from 12,500 in the last week of September. Statistically, nearly five in every 100,000 Poles caught the flu every day in the first week of this month.

Meanwhile, in the same period last year, when the swine flu epidemic reached Poland, only 5,887 cases and suspected cases of infection were recorded.

“The number of cases is great, much greater than last year,” epidemiology professor Andrzej Zieliński told TVN 24.

And that is exactly what can be done. Nothing else. Oh, wear a scarf maybe.

Besides this virus is far less dangerous than the common flu viruses. It's just being exploited by farmaceutical companies media. Remember vaccination campaign? Those vaccines were not guaranteed to be safe no to mention their effectiveness. Pure rubbish!

Potatoe flu is what worries me.....there are many cases in Ukraine...

Now swine-flue is included in the normal flu shot (e.g. Vaxigrip).

It's the same prototype that has been tested for decades in normal flu vaccination. It's very safe.

Costs about 30 zl in PL.

Maybe, but what does it protect from? I hear it can help, but there is no guarantee. I read quite a lot on flu vaccination and one year decided to do it, first just to see if there's any difference. I usually get sick once a year, in winter, then I guess I acquire my immunity for the rest of the year. So I used

That was the worst winter I remember - I got sick after about a month (don't remember exactly if it was 4 or 6 weeks after vaccination...) in the worst way, couldn't recover for more than 2 weeks - never in my adult life was I feeling so sick. I know it could be a coincidence, but I also know my body well and the only conclusion I can make was that this probably happened because of vaccine. Since that time I am not a fan of flu vaccination. I think if you are fairly healthy and have natural immunity in your body that will be enough. I decided not to vaccinate against flu from then on and everything went back to normal: I can get ill once a year, recover after 4-7 days max and that is it.

The greatest scam was with the recent H1N1 flu vaccines: no guarantee it works, no guarantee it is even safe, no responibility and yet almost all the European governments bought loads of them from the pharmaceutical companies giving them unimaginable earnings! Soon it turned out that this kind of flu is nothing serious as it's less dangerous than... normal common flu and that bilions spent on vaccines were wasted. They should fire the people who made the decisions to buy them and possibly prosecute. I read Polish Minister of Health reffrained from buying the vaccines and despite wave of criticism she stuck to her point. After the vaccines turned out to be a hoax no one actually thanked her for saving the Polish government milions...

During my five years in Poland , in my cold draughty old farm , i have never taken any medicines or potions , other than an apap now and then...

I have never been ill , apart from the odd sniffle , that says something....

It might be a bit different when i am in a warm appartment in Moscow , living with a teacher who spends all her day with children , well known as walking germ factories...

This is one of my favorites topics.......to laugh at stupid people. Here in America the mainstream media had a field day with the fear tactic swine flu topic. Everywhere you read it was hurry up and get a swine flu shot so you don't die! OMG FEAR FEAR FEAR!

I have not been to a doctor in years, never got a swine flu shot and ....wow....I'm still alive.

Listen folks, as long as you eat healthy, wash your hands after you relieve yourself and drink plenty of water and juice then you will be fine. Don't believe this fear crap about how you will die if you don't get a shot, its BS.

Other things that help me stay healthy, I swab my keyboard, mouse, cell phone, door knobs and other stuff once or twice a month with rubbing alcohol to keep them clean. Mostly just random items that get handled a lot. If you feel like you are getting sick, drink lots of water, eat a teaspoon of orgnic honey a few times a week and take some good quality vitamins.

You must be the lucky 95% who havn't caught it yet.

Unless you have some sort of resistance (i.e you are over 60) you will probably get Swine flu over the next few years. Its nothing to worry about unless you are over weight, pregnant, have an existing illness or are young, although it can make even healthy people very ill for months.

So you are happy to let them be filthy for most of the time? cleaning them everyday would be hygienic, anyone who touched that stuff in the following month could get infected..

Yeah, 95% of people have not gotten the swine flu shot and they are all still alive. Are you not capable of seeing the obvious? Those 95% of people did not get the shot yet they are still alive and well. What does that tell you? It tells me that the swine flu is not as bad as mainstream media is making it out to be. If it was worse we'd have 95% of people dead and 5% remaining.

Keep perpetuating the fear though and taking everything the media says as true, fool.

Ok, misquote me to justify your stupid reply. Its an internet tradition.

I said 95% of people have not had swine flu. They will either get swine flu and find out if its fatal .

Or they will get a vaccine shot and not get swine flu or suffer reduced symptoms. Severe swine flu can kill you straight off or vastly reduce your life span if you survive with damage lungs.

And the H1N1 shoot contains:
thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative used in the manufacturing of multidose vaccines, sodium chloride, disodium hydrogen phosphate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, potassium chloride and water. As mentioned, there are traces of egg protein, and also of formaldehyde, sodium deoxycholate and sucrose.
I do not think the mercury base preservatives is good for you or kids and the amount of shoots they are getting has tripled from 10 years ago, they even shoot new born with hepatitis b vaccination and last time I check you can only get it by sexual transition one can wonder what is going on.
