Countess Dracula and Where Eagles Dare (and a minor role in Dr Zhivago). Collapsed on stage in London this week. Just shows you shouldn't push it.

German father, Jewish mother.

She was born Ingoushka Petrov on November 21 1937 in Poland, interrupting attempts by her father, a Prussian engineer, and Polish-Jewish mother to escape from Nazi Germany to Britain. Her parents were on a train to leave the country when Ingrid Pitt's mother went into labour, forcing them to get off and seek medical help. Unable to escape afterwards, they were eventually rounded up by the Germans in 1943, when Ingrid and her mother were separated from her father and interned at the Stutthof concentration camp.

A great actress, sadly missed. On the night of her debut at the Berliner Ensemble, she missed her curtain call to go on stage, and slipped out of the back door in full costume and make-up and swam across the river to West Berlin.

Her books are good too.

Oh the agony they must've suffered.

My grand father's brother was taken ... he was not Jew but a Slav. Deceived by his friend (a German) ... and taken by those hounds of WW2.

God bless those brave Polish souls ... those brave souls of everyone in the world ... who stood against that dispicable being.

And God bless those ordinary souls who could do absolutely nothing about it.

What's not very well known about Ingrid Pitt, is that she wrote the song 'Kinky Boots'!!

Just for fun. If you listen to the words and remember her history, well, wow.
