You'd be surprised - I know one guy personally (who runs the legal department of one of the biggest foreign retailers in Poland who own multiple chains here) who voted for Jarek. He's a powerful guy - routinely tells me about some of the things they've done to crush Polish (and foreign) suppliers - including using the legal system to force them into submission even when they're in the right and his company is in the wrong - yet he's a PiS voter through and through. In terms of elite - he's not only intellectual, but also rich and powerful.

There are plenty of people with money and influence that back PiS - if there wasn't, they'd have never got near government in the first place.

And please - don't forget about those ex-Communists who had a sudden change of heart in 1989.

A bit like Obama in America as a Democrat when it is traditionally the Republican financiers that have telephone number bank balances. AIPAC will be watching him like a hawk now. I'm glad AIPAC are not big here in terms of sidespin influence.

Monia: It seems to me however that the families of the victims are completely on a different level and they just wait for the gesture , because the murdered were Polish elite, not ordinary people. It was done by Boris Yeltsin. Evidently, later KGB guys took over in Russia and they see no need to do more. Nobody can force them anyway.
