King of Sweden starts three day trip to Poland

Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Sylvia begin a three-day visit to Poland today with a signing ceremony of a declaration of political cooperation between Poland and Sweden at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw this morning.

After talks with President Bronislaw Komorowski, King Carl XVI Gustaf, who turned 65 three days ago, will meet with both speakers of the lower and upper houses of parliament and Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

The declaration, signed by the foreign ministries of Poland and Sweden, also aimed to tighten Polish-Swedish cooperation in improving the EU's relations with its eastern neighbors.

Poland and Sweden are the co-authors of the Eastern Partnership, an EU project inaugurated in 2009 that aims to boost the bloc's relations with six post-Soviet states, including Ukraine, Belarus and Georgia.

Sweden is concern about the Baltic pipe line. They are considering close cooperation with Poland. Unfortunately the Warsaw's government is impotent.

The Queen of Sweden, who accompanied him on the state visit, doesn't offer 'military alliances' but she has supported charities that work with Polish children in the past.
