About what to donate....better we start a list of ideas

Finding out what she needs is probably the most effective way to go about this.
Saving her foot, if it is a matter of money.

Perhaps there is already a collection for her, to which we could contribute?

I am not against giving this girl something to comfort her like a teddy either, the collection is already a room full of teddies.

For that we need to contact the hospital...I'm not sure they are allowed to give strangers such vital informations...

I have no idea how such medical things are handled in Poland. Is her treatment a money question? That of course would beat all cuddle toys and books...

I agree, that's why I ask about someone closer to her collecting for her, to which we could contribute.

We have insufficient information so far to answer that for now.

Torq was so nice to agree helping us out in that matter...

i agree, but children need some toys to comfort them and make them smile... it's also therapeutic :)

There were some good suggestions made, but it probably makes sense to hold off until we know a bit more about her situation. It was reported that Karina has epilepsy and is autistic, so keep that in mind when suggesting something.

PS, it's pretty damn amazing how quickly you guys reacted. Thanks.

From an idea in wildrovers head to a sizable amount of cash in a couple hours!

That's not what Sean meant (he was probably thinking about some Karina's family member),
and I will repeat it again - I am NOT collecting money for the girl. It's Convex's job - I'm
only a delivery driver, simply because I happen to live closest to Gdynia of all forum members,
that's all.

Our Torqi! :)

Okay...new plan (I'm a German I need a plan):

1.) Gathering money (1 week?)

2.) Collecting information about Karina, hospital, family, other donators/collections etc.
(some polish speaking member would be best I think)

3.) Brainstorming how to spend gathered money best including collected informations

4.) democratic voting about what to do with donations

5.) Buying stuff with donated money

6.) Sending bought stuff to Torq

7.) Torq delivers stuff to Karina

8.) photo of deliverance published in thread

:)

If the story is getting media attention she will be well looked after in that respect. The problem starts when she gets back home, if the family are very poor, they needs things that you and I take for granted, maybe the family needs a fridge work done on their house to prepare them for a cold winter, some of these old houses in the countryside do not even have a toilet indoors.
Toys and teddies can easily be found between us and she will not know they have been used. But what is the use of a little girl having a computer or lots of cuddly toys when the family can't eat and the house is falling to pieces.

I can either do the buying with the money Convex collects (and then, of course, everyone
who donated will receive some nice pictures to his PM box :)) or I can simply deliver whatever
Convex sends me after HE buys it (he already knows my home address, so I don't have to worry
about giving it away on an open forum ;))

Or - we can find out if someone closer to Karina (like a family member) isn't already collecting
money for her and pass everything directly to him.

I still think it's a good idea that we get in contact with the media.

Even if we maybe need to pay taxes for it, we will still generate more money then if we would do this alone.

warszawski:
The problem starts when she gets back home,

We can always start a small private foundation for her where everyone can send a euro or 2 each month.

We could even start an Polish forum Foundation where we Donate money for different causes in Poland.

Well, that would involve a whole lot of paperwork and time that I don't really have.

Driving to Gdynia with gifts or money for the girl is one thing, but running a regular charity
foundation is a completely different matter.

Let us make a little step...but that alright...

So...who is calling the hospital or the newspaper for more info about the girl and what she would need?
That would clear up things...

Wow we really got this thing going! So I'm confused, are we all doing this by giving money to paypal now? How will that money be used or given to the little girl? Who will take the goods to her, is convex the one who lives in the area?

Also what are we doing to tell the media about this? I have already told some people at my university...

I'll try to call the hospital tomorrow. I doubt if they will tell me anything concrete, but it's worth to try.

I did it on a small scale , and it was exhausting...

The confidentiality is very high on hospitals and only close family members got access to her files and i think you need the permission of her family to even visit her etc etc.
