Poland congratulates US on death of Bin Laden

"YES, THEY DID! Congratulations, Americans. On 9/11 Poles were also killed [in the Twin Towers in New York]. Justice has finally been done," writes Minister Sikorski, referring to Barack Obama’s presidential election slogan, “Yes we can…”.

"This is also an important day for Poland,” President Bronislaw Komorowski has said in Rome, where he attended the beatification ceremony on Sunday of the late pope, John Paul II.

“It is worth to remember that one of the objectives of the antiterrorist coalition, founded 10 years ago, and of which Poland has played a part, was to punish those responsible for bombing the World Trade Centre in New York and other places in the United States," he told reporters.

"It's also Obama's personal success and a source of great satisfaction for America,” added Komorowski.

Poland currently has around 2,600 troops in Afghanistan as part of the multinational ISAF mission there.

“This is a warning to all enemies of freedom around the world that if they kill our citizens, it will not remain unpunished,” Foreign Minister Sikorski later told the TVN24 news station.

A Foreign Ministry statement adds: “Congratulations from your allies”.

Yes, I spotted the style of Graduation photo even before names were released :( I think 2 or 3 Polish people died on 7/7 :(

Poland congratulates what death? Can anyone here prove that he didn't die in 2002 or that he was killed yesterday? They fabricated the photo and threw away the evidence in an official capacity. Why should Poland congratulate a lie? It's almost as bad as making a warship out of the steel that was blown up. This is a farce that Poland should take no part in.

I think Buzek has completely missed the point of jihad. We can expect major reprisals in the coming months and years. How can Poland congratulate the US based on this? The perpetrators of antagonism sit safely in their offices whilst innocent people will die. Way to go Poland, I pray that your citizens don't needlessly die for the folly of your politicians.

Has Poland been attacked by any Islamic militants? Perhaps despite participating in the Iraq and Afganistan wars Poland isn't targeted because of the good relation Poland has had over the last several centuries with its own Muslim population.

it can all change because of a couple of 'enthusiasthic' and 'American-friendly' utterings of our politicians - don't think Lech Kaczyński would be so eager to share his joy over the alleged death (if he had any)

I only fear that Poland always being the nice guy in the room, helps everyone else, but when the robbers come charging into the house everyone is prepared with their handguns or runs outside the house, leaving poland alone un armed and defenseless. We helped U.S. in war on terror, Polish army was in Afghanistan and Iraq, i'm sure also participated in special ops and covert ops that we don't even know about... I just hope we don't keep helping everyone and next time Russia kills one of our president that the leader of the free world (Barack Obama) will have some guts to challenge Putin and Russia.

Komorowski is showing weakness on behalf of Poland. He kisses Obama's behind, and Obama repays Poland with taking down missile defense shield for Poland to please Russia. Whose side is Obama really on? Not Polands obviously

Information trail to Bin Laden began in CIA prison in Poland?

Information which led to the whereabouts of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, killed by US troops in Pakistan yesterday, was obtained in the secret CIA ‘black site’ prisons of Poland and Romania, it has been claimed.

The Associated Press reports that the information that Bin Laden was in Pakistan was gleaned after ‘enhanced interrogation’ techniques, such as waterboarding, were used on al-Qaeda’s No. 3 leader, and the mastermind thought to be behind the 9/11 terror attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, and his eventual replacement after being captured Abu Faraj al-Libi, while being imprisoned at a black site near Szymany airport in north east Poland, according to “current and former U.S. officials,” claims the news agency.

why? why Poland accepting that game in which everything what USA and EU doing (read- leading EU powers) must be right and saluted??

only God knows who was behind that Bin Laden and who created him. Its public secret that USA war on terrorism represent USA way to spread its dominance and role of world policeman. After all, public can`t be sure about Laden`s fate. Bastard is maybe dead, maybe alive, who knows. Do you trust to official USA? i don`t. Also, its public secret that USA represent biggest threat to the world peace and to peaceful formation of `multipolar` world. Official USA, EU and NATO are biggest terrorist conglomerates in the world, often operating side by side with Islamic league and all kind of butchers and dictators in the world, even sponsoring them.

Now, official Poland congratulate. Its morbid. While i have a lot of understanding for Polish NATO/EU membership and for many kind of sh** by official Poland, i don`t understand this `congratulations`. Why even that? Its same as i applause while somebody urinate on me and the rest of the world and then i even decide to drink that urine, to confirm my loyalty, while nobody even asking (at least not publicly) me to do so.

Poland is center of old civilization. God even didn`t had plans for USA when Poland was center of the known world. Poland don`t need to humiliate itself more then it is necessary.

Hahaha. You don't even live here, how do you know who our enemies are?

Putin couldn't care less about Poland, Germany has bent over backwards to accommodate Poland (Schengen, EU entry, pushing for the swift abolition of visas in 1991, financial assistance, etc) and as for the EU - without the EU, Poles would still be queuing for hours at the German border and be restricted in what they can import/export.

But you don't see that stuff - because - YOU AREN'T HERE.

That's kinda news to me, actually, but I'm always happy to be educated on all things American. You have no idea how much the Americans do NOT want to send their family members to those outposts of hell like Iraq, Afghanistan, or Libya. But we do (whether I personally agree with it or not), and actually, sometimes, it does do some good, and the former Yugoslavia should actually kiss our ass for our willingness to do that.


That does not matter. Its the politicians and government who decide what happens. The people are only tools. The people have no control as long as they sit back in ignorant bliss as they do.

(Not that I disagree that they handled this situation totally wrong. This whole thing really smells bad, I agree).
