Des Essientes: I never claimed Poland had ever been predominantly Muslim, but since it has had Muslim citizens for centuries, and it still does today, then, in addition to being a Christian country, Poland is also a Muslim country
By the beginning of the 20th century, Lipka Tatars had become so integrated into Polish society that they joined their Roman Catholic brethren in the mass migrations for the United States that gave rise to American Polonia, even founding their own mosque in Brooklyn, New York, which is still in use today
Des Essientes: Antek was either ignorant of the existence of the Sunni Muslim Polish Tartars, or by saying that he didn't know that Poland is a Muslim country
According to my research there are around 30,000 Muslims in Poland today. The population of Poland stands at 38,441,588 (July 2011 est.) The Roman Catholic 89.8% (about 75% practicing), Eastern Orthodox 1.3%, Protestant 0.3%, other 0.3%, unspecified 8.3%.
I think you are being a bit an*l about it DesE, it times to give Antek a break on this one.
As a footer, I would like to say the Polish government did a very good PR job in bringing back to PL, the 16 Christian refugees.
