So then should be "paranoic antysemitic Scotman"... I've always thought that Britain was a oasis of tolerance... ;)

Any more talk of me being anti-Semitic and I swear that the insinuator will be suspended. I am not that way and I will not hear any more of it. It gets very tiring and, frankly, I've had enough of it.

I try to be fair on the issue. I really like some Jewish artists, I have nothing against people I don't even know.

Ehr, that would be me.

M-G (wonders what would happen if I would report Sokidoki? Would he get slapped with yet another suspension? Hm, sounds tempting, but nah, I've never reported anyone, so let's not start with that now, even though it's only Sokidoki)

No you're a wannabe, you're probably a gypsy or something, Seanus is a pureblood Jew from a long line of hasidic rabbis.

I was recently in Israel. I stood on the mount of olives chatting to an arab guy and here are his words. " Look over there you have the arab sector.armenian sector christian and Jewish sector' we co-exist and have done for hundreds of years. The problem is the hardline jews from outside of Isreal they buy up buildings in all the sectors and donate them to the hacidic jews who plant a flag on top of the building in our sector.( at this point he pointed to a building 100 meters away from were we where standing which is a arab sector)" He also mentioned " I read the international papers and they over dramatize what is going on here we can co-exist together we are all from Jerusalem the problem is the hard-liners from both sides. I asked him is there anything that concerns you and he said " I hope the americans do not bomb Iran because it will destroy the region"

I was in the west bank in the Palestinian sector ( Bethlehem) and spoke with a orthodox christian. I asked him how was it to live in the region, he replied " We do what we can to help the people I have a diplomatic passport so I can travel freely, for some it is very difficult to travel since they built the wall. The problem we have here is 99% of all business in Jeruselam is controlled by the jews but we find a a way to live together, I do not dislike the jews but I wish both the christians and the arabs had more opportunity" I asked the same question is there anything you fear, his reply " There is only one thing that would make me leave Jeruselam and that is if the americans bomb Iran, then I will go to Italy as i work for the Italian goverment " So when you talk about Israel/Palestine this is a region that has Arab, Christian and Jew many of the people in the west bank are christians.

Yehudi - I have absolutely no beef with Israelis and in Isreal I was made to feel welcomed, unfortunately on this occasion I could not post any comments by Israelis because I did not have any. But in June I will be traveling to Eilat with some Jewish friends from London and I will make sure we speak to some Isrealis and ask the same question. Be good.

As an aside, I believe that many people posting on this site have never been to Isreal and do not understand the complexity of the situation. They believe what they read in the press or on the internet. From the people that I spoke to on this trip be it arab or christian. They believe the arab, the christian and the jew can live together in Jeruselam but it is the external influence that causes the problem.

That's good. But realize that Eilat is where Israelis go to chill so you may not get very deep answers.

That's sort of true, but it's leaving out some details: Today, Muslims, Christians and Jews live side by side in Jerusalem, even if not everyone is happy with the arrangements. But from 1948 till 1967 Jews were not allowed to live in the arab controlled parts of jerusalem where they had lived for centuries. Nor were they allowed to visit Jewish holy sites. Only after 1967 was the city free for everyone to live and worship in.
The Jerusalem arabs that now speak of coexistence didn't care much about that when they were in charge.

I have been to Eilat before great place, yehudi when it comes to getting a opinion from Isrealis the line will not be short we both know that. I am also a believer that we gain an understanding by focusing on the past, but gain a solution by focusing on the future. All the best.

Be careful with that stuff!

It just may CAUSE cancer, NOT prevent it:

I guess many Poles are dissatisfied with some of the activities of Israelis when they come here (provided they are true, of course). Still, Israel is quite a popular tourist destination for Poles and I can see some similarities in character.

Of course some Poles are as smart as Jews. Pride is an element that runs through their cultures. Also, they have a keen interest in the state.

If we talking 'bout Poles I think this pride is an attempt to hide complexes so its fake.

Well, that much is clear, zetigrek. I can't say the same about most Scots.

OK, back to the Palestinian/Israeli issue. Most Poles really couldn't give a toss either way about it as there's no money in it ;) ;)

Yehudi, what I can't understand is how such interaction and coexistence can take place in the first instance. The question for me is, 'how moderate are the moderates?'. From what I gather, the militant wings exert quite a heavy influence on such people and I'd be walking through the streets thinking, 'is this guy a potential convert to a hardline position?'. Or is it that certain Fatah followers hate Hamas more than Israel? I remember watching a video a couple of years back where Fatah adherents were being set upon by Hamas dudes and a mass brawl broke out. Given the similar appearance of Palestinians (from what I've seen anyway through mass media), aren't you on guard the whole time with alarm bells at the ready? Just curious!
