Poles on average take their first alcoholic drink at 12 years old and, despite anti-drinking laws, are consuming more alcohol than ever before.

Maybe it's better to keep Poland poor, so it won't get an alco culture!!!

I also think it depends on the set-up of the town/city. If you have a market square then more people tend to drink. When I look out onto the rynek here, I see 100 extra people, easily.

Scotland has an average of 11.8 litres per capita for every person aged over 16. This is considerably higher than England and Wales, which had an average consumption figure of 9.9 litres per capita.

We don't even have the defence of a table-drinking culture like France or Italy :( :( They drink wine from a young age around the table.

A manly man have to get stone drunk at least once a week. If not, he is just a gay.

I think that's just pretense. People will make excuses, play games, but the only honest reason to drink is to make yourself feel better. If youy feel really bad, you have to drink a lot. If you just want to unwind after a long work week, you don't need that much. It's really a way of self medicating. Amazing how many people have to take anti-anxiety pills, or sleeping pills or pain pills... have a freaking drink, you pvssy!
Just don't be an idiot and get yourself addicted. Dry yourself out often.
Na zdrowie!

It's often connected with breath too. Breathing and water really help :)

Reducing stress and tension. Sometimes it's just oxygen deficiency or a lack of hydration. A little rest on the bed can work wonders. I do that before work. 30 mins of just lying down and putting your mind into a neutral gear. It works wonders!

Re: water and breathing (and vitamin C) - I'm a believer! I do all that every Monday morning, then drive to work trying to remember what problems I left festering on my desk before the weekend begun. ;)
(today is different. Configuration control tools are down, we all are cruizing the internet)

My point was that, for example, some people get anxious socializing, and they think that taking a pill is more acceptable/better/less damaging than having a drink.

Giving yourself a good floppy shakedown helps too. If your body doesn't move then your mind tends to be static too. A good stiff one might help too. I didn't think I could use floppy and stiff on the same thread :)

They are drinking more as the drinking tables are out on the rynek :)
