Raj_ryder:

So the conclusion is that Poland is sending 18 year old boys to afghanistan to keep washington happy?
You do realize the implications of this dont you??
Poland which till now is a completely terrorist attack free country will suddenly have buildings blowing up and people dieing, thereby leading to a weaker economy and hence leading to a panic. "this is how the cookie crumbles"...

Poland is doing its duty as a member of the NATO alliance. Why are you suggesting that there is doom and gloom because of the involvement.

2600 Polish soldiers are deployed to Afghanistan. 26 have died. 1%

103,700 United States soldiers in Afghanistan. 1531 have died. 1.5%

9500 British troops in Afghanistan. 371 have died. 3.9%

2830 Canadian troops in Afghanistan. 154 have died. 5.4%.

I think I'd want to be in the Polish Army in Afghanistan.

The Brits are taking it hard, but the Canadians are really suffering. This war will never achieve anything. Really, what good will it do? So a bunch of sheep herders get conquered, and we all leave and they still cut the noses of their wives and daughters and stone women to death for sport.

As was said, Poland is in Afghanistan because Poland is in NATO. Otherwise, they wouldn't send one soldier. And I am sure that most of the soldiers from Poland in Afghanistan are there by choice and for higher wages.

What would Tusk's defence be to the families of those that lost their lives? Seriously, what could possibly justify such a needless loss of life?

Same as anyone´s justification. He died for Schengen. No, maybe he died for the European Union. Or, he died for NATO. Or, he died for free people everywhere. Or, he died so that women would be free from the Taliban and wouldn't be acid scarred and physically mutlitated by a sheep herder husband with a tea cozy on his head, rotten teeth and a filthy beard.

But he didn´t die for Poland. Poland gains nothing by participating in this mess. Nothing directly. Maybe he made the world a better place in some miniscule part, but that wouldn't be a fair exchange for my life, I know that.
