Rzeczpospolita exclusively reports on a new video which has been released of a group of soldiers from the Polish Army blowing up a deserted village in Afghanistan, a move which goes against the Geneva Convention.

“What a beauty!” comments one of the soldiers when the first hut is blown to pieces in the 3-minute video, recorded by Polish soldiers from the Army’s 6th rotation during their tour of duty between October 2009 and April 2010. “It was done for fun,” a non-commissioned officer at the time serving in Afghanistan told the Rzeczpospolita daily, adding that there were more deserted buildings in the area, the remains of a village. The blowing up of civilian buildings is against the Geneva Convention and is “a foundation of international law, regardless of the fact whether the building is worth a million dollars or if it is just a shack,” remarks Dr. Elzbieta Mikos-Skuza, vice-chairwoman of the Polish Red Cross and a humanitarian expert. So far three soldiers have been accused of the activity, including a platoon warrant officer. If found guilty, they may be sentenced up to 8 years in prison. The video is also being used as evidence in the case, reports Rzeczpospolita.

Poland has joined the party of international law breaches :) Nobody really cares for it unless it suits certain parties.

it wasn't a village, it was a single abandoned house.

here is the source:

qutation:
Polscy żołnierze wysadzili opuszczoną afgańską chatę.

sorry to say, but someone from thenews.pl portal is functional illiterate :(

p.s. and those, hmm... soldiers used quite expensive rosomak ammunition to do this, what idiots...

Polish Army blowing up a village in Afghanistan

Now, lives of those guys would be ruined by world media

but i blame NATO. Those Polish soldiers are responsible (if news could be truth) but, they themselves also represent victims of NATO, victims of Polish government that blindly follow NATO agenda

any, i repeat, any man that is exposed to war situation could be able to commit similar or even worse crimes. War is cruel and affecting psychology of those who are affected by war, no matter are they involved on the `right` or the `wrong` side. So, really responsible are those who created war situation. Its NATO leadership and NATO leading powers. From former Yugoslavia, Iraq, Serbia-Kosovo, to the Afghanistan, etc, etc its NATO who is to be blamed for war situations

True enough! The Taliban were the last obstacle after Brightest Corporation for the US to secure pipeline deals. NATO countries are doing their bidding. War does make people go stir crazy and those soldiers were likely just letting off some steam. They certainly can't be reprimanded by America for this as they are the world leaders in such mistakes.

And we would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling Scots.

excellent

Your theory would work had the Taliban not offered their country up as a transit point well before the war.

An Afghanistan War-Crimes Case Tests Poland’s Commitment to Foreign Missions

Seven Polish soldiers sit in a military jail in Poznan, accused of killing six Afghan civilians, including women and children, in the village of Nangarkhel in August. Whether the mortar rounds that killed the Afghans were a result of bad aim, bad orders or bad intentions remains to be determined.

Whatever happened to these guys?

Withrdraw from Afghanistan and Iraq or not?

The reputation of the Polish Army won't be tarnished. They are still amongst the best in the world. I can imagine them being elite in the field of reconnaisance.

Like I enjoy imaging that Poland has some of the best roads in the world.

Afghanistan and Iraq is on the job training with some of the best. They'll learn a lot from this.

It's a pretty big stretch to call a military with no naval power, no heavy lift capability, no satellites, no attack helicopters, no AWACS, no decent armor "amongst the best in the world".

Afghanistan is an intensive course in expanding special operations capabilities. But they won't be able to fight on their own for a good while to come.

DESERTED village are the key words here, no one died, a mud house is not some great architectural wonder, don't worry the UNESCO World Heritage Site wont sue.

Terrorist does not have to bomb Berlin, he can bomb wedding party in Pakistan or kill people in Gaza or kill Olympic athletics

And what, convex, America has 40 allies in the War on Terror and STILL isn't winning in Afghanistan. Take away those 40 countries at the start and you'd see exactly why America pleaded with all NATO nations to join the fight. What was it, Art 5 of NATO? Could you imagine it, America getting whooped by the Taliban over the years like the Russians did? That's exactly what would have happened, despite all your high-tech stuff. For pure out-and-out soldiers, Poland has some of the best, period!!

Absolutely, Crow!! Of that I have no doubt. Some of the special forces of both countries should go into MMA. I guarantee you that they'd kick a*s! I've seen GROM train and also Serbian special forces. I wouldn't want to run into them drunk and angry on a Saturday night and I tend not to fear guys as I'm pretty big.

As for the Polish army, the news is whipping up hysteria again. Those bored gits spin out any old nonsense and it's highly damaging. Why not focus on the mercenaries getting paid ridiculous sums of money to perform outlaw actions? Blowing up a village, LOL, what BS!
