A nightclub security guard in Poland's Krakow chopped off a client's hand using a saber, a spokesman for the regional police said on Monday.

The spokesman said police authorities arrived at the nightclub early on Monday morning after a alarm went off and saw two men running out of the building with one of them attacking the other and chopping off his hand.

He said the 27-year-old man was immediately hospitalized, while police are trying to find out why the 33-year-old guard attacked the client.

"The detained guard refuses to testify," he said.

Sadly it wasn't a sabre. I was a machete. Shock and shame!
How we possibly can be considered a civilized country if such a thing is exposed in the world media? Machete is a tool. There is no honor, no style, no form in it.

I think the fact that it is not hidden shows that Poland is a civilized country although this was such a brutal attack. I would be much more afraid if it was not talked about.
Unfortunately instances like this happen in every country.

Some newspapers say that is what happened but lets face it if the security guy had a machete, he was looking to use it.

He chopped of his hand but according to one newspaper report, the victim was trying to defend himself while the nutter was swinging at him, so it should be attempted murder.

I am generally of the opinion that the mafia do not care about joe public but businessmen and people in positions of power.

Really I think it is obvious that if the bouncer had a machete, he was crazy.

Well, in many countries I'd say. Bouncers are renowned for their boorish ways. There were hardly any in Japan, though. In fact, I remember none.

Nah, the samurai was just for demonstration and cultural preservation. The Japanese are so much more disciplined than many Western nations.

Using a machete is just asking for trouble. Bouncers should not abuse their privelege.

I am sure if I google it, I will find an attack in Japan using a sword cutting off someone's hand.

I have heard from people who have lived and visited Japan that it is over all one of the safest countries in the world but safe or otherwise, there are always nutters.

Good to see that Sarmatian tradition is still alive and well, perhaps Karabela Polska would have been a preferred weapon to practice the art of sword fighting but if you deal with a savage machete is just as good. Besides it’s just a palm of his hand that he lost which was promptly reattached and not his head.

The yakuza did kill an American marine in Hiroshima when I was there but he was trespassing on their girls. I don't know the murder implement. They chop your finger off as part of the initiation ceremony. Remind me to opt out of that one.
