The Republic of Poland will finance, with about USD 22 million, the construction of a fisheries academy, in south Namibe province, announced Thursday its ambassador to Angola, Piotr Mysliwiec.

yes it is good we started to help in serious way for poorer countries. This year we are going to give bilions PLN for Africa. And we are not going to buy them winter jackets but build schools or help them to develope their countries.

Simply we are going to give them row not fish ;)

I don't know if this was good example of selfless help ;)

The fact is that we started to give real ($$$) help.

Do You all think that RACISM is a wrong thing? Certainly no!!! I suppose that it is an indifferent phenomenon which cand be wrong only if its grade is too high in some society. RACISM is just some kind of POINTER by means of which the titular nation gives signals to strangers how to integrate in the present society. Sure it must exist in the healthy nation, contrary the nation will be desintegrated soon.

Africa will soon have better roads than Poland ;)

I beg to differ - the chances of driving into an elephant are nowhere near as high in Poland.

I would take my chances with elephants over most drivers here.

Racist?

You bet it is!

The overall grand master scheme is to make the lives of these poor Africans a little better so that they don't need to Immigrate to places like Poland.

ditto!
I hate the idea of picking and choosing who not to help but surely the Polish government ought to be looking out for Poles first and foremost.

Imagine what Polish fishermen think about it! We joined the EU, accepted its limits, they got bankrupt and suddenly Polish politicians spent cash helping to build fish industry in Namibia while our own is in ashes!

PL is following GWB and his crusaders. We also need this money for our own poor and starving. Apparantly our 700 million isn't enough.

No it's not.

Racism would be if Africa asked for financial help from the Polish Government and they replied "Sorry, we only give our money to white countries".

Every country should look after their own people first!!!!

Which is in deed the larger picture.....but like the rest of the aid that goes there, nothing seems to improve, its like a big money pit, just keep shovelling it in hope that there isn't another civl war because they'll only end up burning it or bombing it anyway!...

A noble gesture worthy of Poland. Is this really necessary to wait until Poles are as rich as the Scandinavians to be properly generous? (whatever propaganda some Poles here may love to boast, Poland is way too affluent to ignore its duty towards the vastly poorer Africans!)

Giving is receiving. It is noble of Poland to share the "wealth" received from EU and built fisheries in Angola. Yes... if they were selfish they could spend it on their own roads instead.... (central Poland comes to mind). It sounds like a politically correct move, a good deed to do. However, I'd prefer if Poland developed strong, economical ties with Europe first before going to Angola.

Hm, I suppose that may be one, a hundred or thousands of suffering Africans can't wait until Poland becomes a economic power! To be relatively poor does not make a good excuse to be heartless.

Poland as a state have absolutely no obligations towards any Africans. How many cash was wasted on Africa? Only Africans themselves can improve situation in Africa.

You know it is rather tragic to see so much cash having been wasted for nothing, but the other choice of withholding it can only lead to worse situation. Now the only hope left is that finally either someone from the 'giving' countries is disgusted enough with their countries' wastefulness and devises an effective aid plan or someone from the 'received' countries, by an extraordinary stroke of luck, possesses enough brain and integrity to realise those aid money for the benefit of his own country. And by the way, while your idea of self-help is laudable there are extremely few developed countries in the world that can boast their current achievements without acknowledging any kind of aids they got at the beginning. So there is no shame for Africans to extend their palms a little bit right now.

What a terrible idea. What is even more terrible is that people actually agree with sending millions of dollars to Africa when Poland is currently in shambles. Sub-Saharan Africa has already received billions of dollars in so called "aid", but where has it gone? To the leaders and the bureaucrats who don't give a damn about their own people but have an immaculate toilet made of gold. Has anyone ever heard of money going into their education system? For that matter, has anyone heard of an African philosopher?

If we're going to spend millions on a doomed continent, why not give it to people who actually need it, like the white people in Zimbabwe who have to live in an incredibly hostile and racist environment?
