Apart from being a happy owner of numerous palaces and - I think - at least one semi-detached ... county in the UK, Prince Charles Mountbatten-Windsor wants to buy the palace in Bożków (Dolny Śląsk) - says the Polish daily "Polska The Times". The prince was moved by a report stating the poor state of stately homes and mansions in this part of Poland, so he wants to give a helping hand buying one of them.

Voici cette nouvelle résidence proposée pour lui, notre cher prince britannique:

Makes sense, a Battenberg/Saxe-Coburg wanting to return to "German" lands. Probably still thinks it is part of the kaiser-land.

Sorry for the link. I've changed the name of the village in my text which name is in fact Bożków (information on the palace of Bożków in Wikipedia), not Czarnków.

Now, let me get my head round this - I'm a bit slow - he's doing this to "help"?

This money-grabbing anti-green developer has obviously had a change of heart then. In the Duchy of Cornwall he is infamous for building on greenbelt land and using his name to get away with blue murder ... as if he owned the country - which of course he feels he does.

How's the local hunting?

They forbid the hunting of locals in the late 80's.

Ah, the old "Gold member" double entendre has been done to bits on here so I thought I would try a different tack and answer your question.
I couldn't resist the 'shoot locals' one though, in my defence all I can say is I am a slave to my own whims.

Yeah, word has it that he has his ear to the ground (and just about everywhere else too).

Charles, what a waste of space!

Prince Charles

I know nothing about the royal family, so excuse me if this is an obvious question to you all but is he set to be King when the queen dies?

Given the fact that all land in the not-then-United Kingdom belonged to the Crown in the blessed times of Wiliam the Conqueror, and with one-fourth of it being the personal property of the king, I'd say Prince Charles' claims to Cornwall are of modest nature ...

Yes, and his eldest son is next in line after him.

i cant see why, the palace (castle more like) in question is a splendid building at the moment it is just dwindling away, if the prince can bring it back to its former glory and hopefully open it to the public for what ever enteprise it can only be a good thing.

Rumour has it that Queen Elisabeth II may outlive Prince Charles and that she may outlive Wiliam and Harry, too. Indeed, given her excellent shape and wealth, it should be seriously taken into consideration. In that case we really can't even imagine who is set to be King or Queen after her.

Et voilà - here they are: Ich Książęce Mości Charles and Camilla have arrived in Poland for a three-day visit. After having paid an official visit to the Polish Prime Minister and after having had dinner with the President of Poland yesterday evening, Prince of Wales and Princess of Cornwall have rushed off to see the only European primordial forest of Białowieża today. The couple has been recklessly invited to this place as their hosts in Białowieża obviously didn't read the PF in which it was stated clearly that Prince Charles was a "money-grabbing anti-green developer infamous for building on greenbelt land in the Duchy of Cornwall". UK ambassador to Poland Eric Todd was explaining in his surprisingly good Polish on TV yesterday that nothing had yet been decided on their prospective purchase of the stately home in Bożków.

You forgot to mention that the crown also managed to loose it since William ran things. I figure they should be happy to have anything since Charles got his head cut off.

Did ya nob in some gold paint?

As for good old jug ears - he's expanding his portfolio and probably gets sick of waking up next to a horse and like the rest of British men, fancies a bit of Polish skirt :D

Shame he cant do the same for some of our own dwindling estates in the UK, there are many of them.

Being healthy and outliving your child is one thing...but Grandchildren...come off it!

Is there still debate as to whether Charles should abdicate and give the Throne to William?

I doubt she will even outlive Charles. Betty's good and healthy, but she's mid-80s and that's pretty old for anyone, even if she can keep her health for another 20 years, I can't see her living much past the 100 mark (by the way, does she send herself a telegram if she turns 100?). Which would put Charles in his 80s and I can't see him taking the throne at this age (nowadays), so I can see Wills stepping in.

If I wanted to be King, I would've pushed her down the stairs or something. (Whoops! Sorry!) It was an accident I swear!
