"Rapid Trident" is an annual international military training which takes place on Yavoriv military field, near Lviv (Ukraine).
This year it has:
Ukrainians: 745 soldiers and officers of the Ground troops (8th and 13th division)
US: 362
Moldova: 99
UK: 80
Serbia: 47
Poland: 35
Canada: 34
Belorus: 20
Total of 1400 soldiers and officers from various types of troops.
The training lasts 2 weeks (July25-August5) and involves jumping from Mi-8 helicopter, engineer-saper techniques applications. The optimal goal is organizing multi-national airmobile operations for better response in cases of necessity of different types.
Will there be greater amount of neighbors in the training the next year? Poland makes only 2.5%. What's up?!
Here is some outlook from the training of 30th mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Ground Forces (from 2008) (nice soundtrack):

By the way, the army top command behaves like as*-holes. The training seems too funny for them. What a bunch of lazy morons!

Why? Secrecy or something else?
I have no idea what the guy was singing, but yeah,I liked it :)

He sings that eventually everything is going to be all right. That's what you probably subconsciously caught and enjoyed it :)

Isthatu, are you Ok? Our soldiers cut balls off any foreign soldier who decides to grab something else besides the gun. Does the UK send freaks for the training?

That's what I thought. Thanks.

Serbia got an invite this time? I think it was to make up for the fact that they didn't get their place in Wipeout ;) ;) Ukraine, Poland, The Czech Republic and Belarus there.

Jumping out of helicopters sounds like great fun :) :)

What's the point if you are inviting so many countries with conflicting interests?

Ah, but are they conflicting? Do Russian and Chinese interests conflict? Yes, esp over territorial issues. However, they are together in the Shanghai Group. Don't look too deep into it.

For helicopter ;)
Are they mounted troops?

No, they are mounting troops. And instead of horses, there are enemies :)
What's the point if you are inviting so many countries with conflicting interests?

What conflict of interests? It is an international training, not a political debate or diplomatic confrontation. These soldiers are there to serve their country, not like the morons in the parliaments and governments who fume the hatred just to fill their pockets.
Don't look too deep into it.

It's the opposite: shallow thinking.

Poland is now best buddies with Russia and Germany (at least Donald Tusk wants us to believe so - so we need to keep up the appartions) - and you must be pretty aware of the fact that Russia does not want a Ukraine completely on her own (and Germany will comply to Russian policies for the economical gains)

I wonder to what extent they want to antagonise Russia. Ukraine in NATO would ruffle their feathers but the Russians have the Sevastopol contract extended. Surely that was one of their main foreign policy objectives. Serbia and Poland conducting joint operations is clearly not to undermine them.

173rd Airborne BCT Soldiers jump into Ukraine with paratroopers from 5 nations
YAVORIV, Ukraine (July 28, 2011) -- More than 200 paratroopers completed the first multi-national airborne operation of Exercise Rapid Trident 11 at the International Peacekeeping and Security center here, July 26.

The U.S. Paratroopers of Battle Co., 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, U.S. Army Europe were joined by soldiers from Ukraine, the U.K., Moldova, Poland and Canada.
For many of the Battle Co. Soldiers, it was the first time jumping alongside partner nations as well as their first time having a foreign -- in this case Polish -- jumpmaster.

47 Serbians?

quite enough to deal with those 362 Americans and 34 Canadians. If we take in consideration total number of Slavs here, that is more then enough.

It is good for soul when one practice with his mortal enemies.

Slavija shall prevail.

as i heard today, these days Serbian president travel to Ukraine. Let us hope that he may suggest some interesting ideas to the Ukrainian president.... eventually about Ukrainian military (no to NATO) neutrality and about Polish-Ukrainian-Serbian, Slavic triangle- from Baltic to the Black see and Balkan.

Ukrainian Peacekeepers in Kosovo (UKRPOLBAT)

Thanks to Ukraine for helping Poland to avoid Polish obligations to NATO on Kosovo and Poland avoided to take part in recent NATO violence on Serbians. UKPOLBAT is good for Poland

Slava!
