What an assumption, Sokrates. I was zeroing in on the Baltic States and not even addressing the bigger picture. I am well aware of Russia's imperialistic ambitions but you are secong guessing them. Which war would that be, remind me?

However the Baltic States are a part of the big picture, to surrender them to Russia is to trigger a chain of events that leads of a confronation as for the conflict i meant the cold war.

Yes yes, but I didn't lose sight of the bigger picture and that's the point. I just chose to select a part of it.

What "few" churches? They've been popping up like mushrooms, even faster than McDonald's, since JP2 came on the scene. Turn 'em into hospitals and schools I say. But how can you, with a dickhead puppet of the Vatican like Kaczyński, Tusk et al. And pope B16 (sounds like a Yankee missile in the Tatras) seems to be carrying on the business nicely.

Sasha, you say "Obama is a first american president who understands what "diplomacy" really is."

I think you are wrong and mis-guided, he is the other end of the spectrum of Bush and that the world likes.

However, Obama has no prior diplomatic experience. He is handsome, youthful, charming, and when on the teleprompter he delivers a great speech to the masses. His voting record as a US Sentor is extraordinarily non-existent. His academic life was predicated on getting to where he is, by getting his card punched; he has not paid any dues.

Generally speaking, people in the states were so sick and tired of Bush and everything Bush reprepsented any opposing party was going to fare well against a Republican Moderate like McCain... who held Bush values and touted that too... especially when you go by the shallow visual basics of "old white guard" compared to "youthful and vibrant speaker who says what you want to hear". The good thing is Obama surrounded himself with good people - only if they paid their taxes.

America voted Obama in at 52%, which is nice; GW Bush won the last two elections on 51%.

Many US Presidents understood international diplomacy prior to taking office... Clinton was very good, as was Reagan, and J F Kennedy. I like Obama, but he has minimal experience in US Senate, and virtually no diplomatic skills. Case in point the recent blunder with the British PM.

Obama has never been challenged in his political life, not in Chicago, not in the US Senate and not so far in as President. Obama is un-doing Condi Rice's missiles in Poland and Czech Republic, which is a good common-sense move; as they are no longer needed. However, if Russia puts long-range bombers in Cuba or Venezula... we are back to the Cold War politics and no one, since G H W Bush has experienced that.

The media loves Obama, as he says what all people want and desire. Honestly, who would not want free health care or any of the promises Obama made during the campaign? Who would not want to be employed and equal, and feel special? One of the problems is how does a nation pay for all of it? It is pure idealism and fantasy... then again that is American Liberalism at its finest.

Perhaps. I don't insist on that and I believe there should be some time passed after which we would be able to finally assess him.

I don't think Russia would do that, unless the US put their missiles in Europe. Honestly speaking I think Russia won't do it ever. :) In case the US put their missiles here, we're as you rightfully said, bacj to the Cold War. Let's wait, time will show. I admit my conclusion was too hasty.

Sasha, I hope my post did not come across as overly aggressive, I apologize if you took it that way.

I think Obama will fare well in the end, but it will take change and hope of the all Americans and not just one party. Both parties have changed so drastically in the last ten years... I often wonder if they can ever be the way they were. Probably not, like nations and governments, parties too are evolving and changing.

Good post, Henry. There is much truth in it. But I would disagree with your last line conclusion. Obama's dishonest and sneaky radicalism represents American Liberalism at its worst. He will push America far to the Left, from which it will take years to recover.

No need to apologize to anyone. I agree in most of what you said. The only thing that Obama has going for him is his Messiah image. For some reason people are fascinated with him.. But his polls are falling like a rock. People are seeing him for what he is. A CHALATIN

no, i insist that they don`t like it. Its something like sado-masohism, considering that working against Serbians, Poland working against its strategic partner

those Patriot missiles are also kind of sado-mashism

Ok. :) Just let them know as they don't know about it yet.

How comes? :) The troops earn money. They're Polish, not Serbs. They're hardly obsessed with any kind of panslavic feelings. Same was with Ukrainian troops in Kosovo.

Cel? Did you read the same article???

..."When we started discussing this with the United States, the U.S. assured us they would persuade the Russians that it was purely defensive and it would be a non-controversial decision," he told the annual Brussels Forum conference...

Well...they didn't.
Quite to the contrary Russia is now threatening with a new arms race!

Why are you so hot on this shield? Europe needs it like a wart...

...At the same event, U.S. Congresswoman Ellen Tauscher, who is expected to be named the new U.S. under secretary for arms control and international security, said the missile system would not be deployed until it had been proven to work....

Well...it doesn't.
A quite blurry way out but a way out nonetheless!

She said NATO needed to develop a short- to medium-range system, something that could involve cooperation with Russia.

Sounds more like a "wind of change"...

Tell me a time Russia was not making threats to someone. They just alter who they want to push around.

Russians have to spend most of their reserves on weapons and then run out of cash to buy tires for nuclear transporters ;)

I think true Polish patriots, should begin to start a petition asking for this shield never to be brought up... Poland should begin aligning itself with Russia in the years to come.. It would be most beneficial. No need for American or EU interference.

So they can just invade Poland on foot of which missile defense won't be too effective against.

Yep, yep.. let's antagonize the Russians for absolutely no reason.

Foolish Celinski! You think that these missiles would make such a difference in the long run? If Russia wanted, she could destroy us quite quickly, with or without these missiles and a defense shield. You think that the Americans would hold true to their word if Poland was wiped off the map? What shit you speak of today! They will only look after their own ass. Poland playing the antagonizing little monkey in the middle won't help her cause in the long run, believe me...
